I'm all in favor of the men's team playing against an opponent that doesn't draw well in the Cage because I think it would be a cool atmosphere and the place would get loud. It's different with the women. There isn't a fervent fan base that would really get the Cage loud. If the team isn't going to get a boost from the fan atmosphere by playing in the Cage, I think their much better off just playing in front of a mostly empty arena, which is at least modern.
This isn't an attack on fans for not supporting the women's team at all, it's just the way things are. |

Do you think the girls would rather play in a completely empty Mullins Center or a semi full Cage. I would want to play in the cage if were a chick on the team. |

Personally I just like the cage better, it's a better atmosphere...but I'm biased. As crappy as the cage is/was I always loved the games there. It's got nothing to do with the crowd. 500 is going to look like nothing in a 4000 or 9000 seat arena regardless. _________________ http://ndahoops.tripod.com - Home of ND Prep Girl's Basketball on the internet. |

I have to say that I have not seen the women play this year but I went to many home games from 76-80 when I was an undergard. The Cage is the venue for them without a doubt. _________________ "In our Country... one class of men makes war and leaves another to fight it out." ~ William T. Sherman |

when i was a sophomore in hs i played in both the cage and the bill in the western mass semis and finals... similarly sized crowds for both and the cage was definately more exciting atmospherewise, but then again maybe i say that because we lost in the finals |
