| I thought I would start a new thread so this topic can be discussed fully and maybe someone at the University will take notice. First of all, women's college basketball is a MAJOR college sport. ESPN game day ,a few weeks ago, broadcast from a UConn women's game, the first time ever. There is money to be made by succceesful programs so how can this University ignore this possible source of revenue. As I stated in another post I watched the Penn St women's program rise from the ashes to become more popular than the men's program, filling the Bryce Jordan Center with 15000 fans. The school and the community got behind this winning program and it can happen here too. What it will take I'm not totally sure but I do know the first piece to the puzzle is a new exciting coach who can recruit and energize the fan base(does that sound familiar?) It was done here on the men's side now its the women's turn. Let's make it happen. Go UMass! |

| A UConn women's season ticket is much harder to get than a UConn men's, and it has been that way for quite a while. |

I have spoken with some people in the Amherst area and they said that he would love to get the job at UMass when it becomes available. However as I stated in another topic on this board, UMass tends to be gender sensitive lately in hiring of coaches for women's sports and usually hire female coaches. He certainly has had a good track record. |

Maybe that's the problem. let's just bring in a coach that is good for the program and good for the student athletes, regardless of gender. It can only help the U with a successful woman's program, especially if there is a local guy/woman who is interested in becoming coach _________________ Stay thirsty my friends |

UMass just hired a male women's soccer coach...
I think McCutcheon (if he's still here) will hire the best person available |

Concidering that McCutcheon is the leading candidate for the SDS job that is supposed to be filled by March 1 I doubt that he will be here. Then who knows how long it will be before we hire a replacement. Hopefully the Chancelor is on top of the situation and has some replacement candidates in mind because someone will have to move fast to start a search for a new coach to be able to get a good replacement coach. |

| Just announced, McCutcheon has withdrawn his name from the San Diego position. He's remaining here. Good news. |

Jen Rizzotti would of course be the best hire but she is unlikely to move. She is happy where she is and has probably been contacted for some big time jobs in the past few years given her success at Hartford. However another former UCONN player might be a possibility. Shea Ralph was an assistant at a good Pitt program for 5 years and has been an assistant to Geno for the last 2 seasons. She was a tough kid..went through i believe 5 acl injuries in her career and is a good recruiter.

| Isn't Ralph the one that they stopped a game for or let UCan't have the ball so that she could score a layup on a bum leg so she could get the record for career points or something? I'll pass thanks. |
