| Big one today! While there is a long way to go this season and it is hard to say how the CAA will play out, if we don't win the CAA AQ, this game is going to be critical for our at-large chances (assuming we take care of buisness in games we "should" win the rest of the year.) Hofstra is always a pain in the ass, and are having a great year, the boys are going to have to be sharp today. Lets take Hofstra down! |

11-8 with about 5 to go. Kell and Manny with 4 points each, Kell 3 and 1, Manny 1 and 3.
11-9 with 2 minutes left. This would be a HUGE win both because it's a conference win and because Hofstra is ranked 6th currently! |

Excellent win - battled back from one sided reffing - UMASS had 7 or 8 penalties vs. 1 for Hofstra. Second half calls/non-calls were exceptionally questionable. I believe 6 of their 9 goals were 'man up' situations.
McCormack in goal looking pretty good, seems to be developing.
Next game is against Penn State at their place. _________________ Feeling entitled is JUST a feeling... |

I hate to reference officiating but econalum is right. It was really bad. Penalties were 7-1 for Hofstra I believe. Loved the team today. Killer instinct when umase had the ball. Though it was tough at the end glad to see the goaltending had improved as the season has gone along. _________________ UMass Hockey Blog:

I debated whether I should make the trip when I saw it was 33 degrees this morning, but glad I did. Great win, great atmosphere, and beat Hofstra and the officials. Hofstra had 4 man-up goals. It seemed as if the UMass players got whistled when they so much as looked at the Hofstra players funny. And no call when 4 Pride players gang tackled McCormack.
Great patience on offense, sharp passing, and we even clanged the post a couple times. McCormack continues to develop. He played a great first half and looked sharp at the end when the game got close.
Oh yes Outlaw, that little kid was great. For those who weren't there, he didn't just run up and down the aisle after every goal, he was wearing one of those foam tri-corn hats as he did it.
Lots of tough games left, but I like the direction this team is going.
Go UMass. _________________ Peace is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading |

Agreed. Not to mention the PBR at the Hangar. _________________ “Let everybody know, nobody did it like Temple and Mass.” J.Chaney 2/15/13 |
