That's some quality posting right there. Very funny and sadly true.

In defense of the holder I must say that if the ball is snapped to you on one hop as they were on Saturday it is pretty tough to pick it up and get it placed properly for the kicker to make a successful field goal without disrupting the timing.

Except they weren't one-hopped to the holder.

Where do you sit?

Ever think they looked like they were one-hopped due to the holder fumbling the ball? If the ball was actually one-hopped there probably would have never been a kick even attempted. Unless Tripucka is extremely talented on one hopping a snap right to the holder Rolling Eyes

High up on the 40 yard line in section 7. If in fact the holder did fumble the snaps then he needs to spend about an hour each practice this week taking snaps so he don't have any problems if we need a field goal this week. Just wonder how come all of a sudden this far into the season he is having problems handling the snap.

getting this thread back on topic...

The Good News:
UC Davis (5-5) got Cal Poly (7-4) out of the way.
Southern Illinois (4-6) beat at-large candidate Western Illinois (6-4).
Elon (5-5) put the dagger to bubble team Furman (5-5).
Nicholls State (3-7) eliminated Northwestern State (5-5) from Southland conference race. Update: This is not true. If both SFA and McNeese lose next week, Northwestern State takes the title.

The Bad News:
New Hampshire (6-4) beat Villanova (6-4), taking an at-large precedence that they weren't predicted to take.
Richmond (6-4) beat URI (4-6). They will also leapfrog UMass if they win next week at William & Mary.
Chattanooga, Georgia Southern, Montana, and South Carolina State all held on to their at-large hopes.

Matty V does a nice job "Breaking down the selection process" for the FCS playoffs today in the Gazette.

Some points that are made:

-The committee completely ignores all polls and rankings. any computer rankings are also not used.
-Games against FBS teams only come into consideration if the FCS school won. L's don't hurt.
-Wins over D2 or other lower level teams are not considered, however a lost to one of these teams greatly hurts.
-12 teams will get a first round bye. The top 5 teams are seeded, the bottom 8 teams are paired in the first round based on geographic location to one another.
-Except for the five teams which receive a seed in the second round, no team is awarded a home game based on resume. Schools bid for home games using the all mighty dollar. Some school don't bid at all.

Not too sure about this sports network bracket. First off... He must think Montana will beat Montana St... even if they do they would be sneaking in. With a loss they will not be in the tourney.

I think the difference is that Haley, to an extent, predicts outcomes of future games. NoBowls takes a more conservative approach, soothsaying only when absolutely necessary for the bracket to make sense.

Code:
        Robert Morris @ Lehigh --|
                            at   |---|
                  Delaware (1) --|   |
                                     |---|

   Stony Brook @ Massachusetts --|           |

        Eastern Washington (3) --|   |       |
                                     |---|   |
      Southeast Missouri State --|   |   |   |
                            at   |---|   |   |
             Stephen F. Austin --|       |   |
                                         |---|
                 Montana State --|       |
                            at   |---|   |
            North Dakota State --|   |   |
                                     |---|
Jacksonville @ Bethune-Cookman --|   |
                            at   |---|
         Appalachian State (2) --|

The bracket, as I made it above, assumes that all favorites win this weekend.

Auto-bids:
Delaware (CAA)
Appalachian State (Southern)
Jacksonville State (Ohio Valley)
Stephen F. Austin (Southland)
Montana State (Sky)
Northern Iowa (Missouri Valley)
Bethune-Cookman (MEAC)
Robert Morris (Northeast)
Lehigh (Patriot)
Stony Brook (Big South)

At-Large:
Eastern Washington (Sky)
William & Mary (CAA)
New Hampshire (CAA)
Wofford (Southern)
SE Missouri St (Ohio Valley)
North Dakota State (Missouri Valley)
Massachusetts (CAA)
Georgia Southern (Southern)
South Carolina St (MEAC)
Jacksonville (Pioneer)

Bubble teams ("need" win next week):
Montana
New Hampshire
Villanova
Richmond
Massachuetts
Chattanooga
Western Illinois
Georgia Southern
^ If five out of these eight teams win this week, Jacksonville and South Carolina State are knocked out of bracket. If more than five win, I predict them in playoffs in order listed (GA Southern with least precedence). If less than three of these eight teams win, we could see a year in which the "7-counting-D1-wins" guideline is ignored. Teams like a 7-4 McNeese State (win over Lamar is a non-counter), 6-5 James Madison, 7-4 Weber State (one D-2 win), or any of teams listed above even after losing, could be considered.

J'ville would be a big surprise. Gotta think someone will step up and get an upset to keep them out.

Emilio the only switch I would make would be to swap Lehigh and SB. I just dont think they would put two teams that faced each other in the reg season in round one if it were possible.

I did do this actually, then switched it back. Robert Morris is 300 miles away from Lehigh, 450 from Stony Brook. I believe the committee would schedule this way as the geography is just too compelling, especially given the link posted above stating a "300-mile" preference. I/we could be wrong though.
