| Now I'm really confused. Are there 22 teams in the playoffs? If so, wouldn't some of them get byes? And if some get byes, wouldn't that include #1 ranked Maryland? As I said, I'm confused. |

| No, I think 16. Five get in automatically, then you have three winners of the play-in games, then 8 more teams get invitations. |

Field Hockey has an extremely odd selection process, I don't know how else to describe it
11 Conferences
5 get direct bids in
6 have to compete in play-ins
Our RPI was good enough to get in regardless of the play-in and on another note, we are also probably the reason BC is not in the tournament |
What is the purpose of having play-in games if the loser can still get into the tournament? I am glad UMass is in, but the system is senseless. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

| I'll be at the UMass-Delaware football game this afternoon rooting for a victory in that game but also eagerly awaiting the announcement of the UMass-Maryland field hockey results. Two victories today combined with the UMass basketball thriller last night would be one hell of a trifecta. One can dream. |

Maryland is very good all around. Alesha Widdall will need to play out of her mind for UMass to have a chance in this one. Katie O'Donnell is the best player in the nation and she will be tough to handle |

| They didn't announce the score at the game. They announce the Kansas State football score but not the score of our women's field hockey team, who was in the NCAA tournament and who's game had been probably over for at least an hour when they did the out of town scoreboard. Boo UMass. |

It is the general practice around the country not just at UMass not to announce losing scores |

IV - keep reading - you will find more Kosty bitching.
But I'm with Kosty - over the years we have given partials at the various games as well as finals whether the other major UMass teams are winning or losing. _________________ "Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here." |

Who says Kosty showed up in Amherst? Did anyone actually see him? I didn't. OC, did you? _________________ UMass Hockey Blog:
