During our final year of FBS transitional and first year in the MAC it’s probable we play one or two FCS teams. Most AQ teams schedule at least 4 years into the future, so finding three other FBS teams for the schedule will be difficult. (UConn is on the schedule.) So if we are playing FCS teams, we’d need a team willing to accept less than the 300k, UHN has stated as the minimum. Is there a FCS team that makes sense and would play the around the same 80k the Colonial Clash pays the home team?

It would be nice to hear the MAC teams on the schedule.

2012 Schedule
UConn – Aug 30th.

We won't be bowl eligible in 2012, so if we schedule a FCS opponent it doesn't matter if they count towards eligibility. We could pay a lot less for Holy Cross than we would for UNH, and have less risk of getting beat. Maybe even Harvard could be lured out of hiding.

FBS teams still looking for an opponent in 2012 according to the future schedule website:
ACC: Maryland and North Carolina
B12: Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Texas Tech
Big East: Rutgers, USF, West Virginia and TCU
Big Ten: Nebraska and Wisconsin
CUSA: half of them
Indy: BYU
MWC: Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada,
Pac12: half of them
SEC: most of them
Sun Belt: most of them

Even if the info isn't entirely up to date, there should be options available.

UMass and Vanderbilt will play in Nashville in 2012 and 2014, in Foxborough in 2013 and 2015

4 year home and home... not a bad deal!

Just noticed that in 2015, the game is scheduled for a Thursday night!

Maybe as part of the MAC tv package.

There is a guy on twitter claiming that we will play UConn at Foxboro in 13(?) on a Tuesday night for the same reason.

UConn @ home= awesome.

However, I thought the week night games would be at McGuirk? I'm not complaining, as Foxboro is a LOT easier for me to get to on a weeknight...

Liking all the home and homes with BCS teams. If the rumored deal with UConn is true and is a home and home as well, that would be great.

A very smart scheduling by UMass. Vandy might not be a huge draw, but it does open the door to send a message. Umass is playing one of the best academic schools in the country, and taking on an SEC school in the process...a school from the top football conference in the country.

A win over an SEC team during the 1st 4 years of FBS would be a nice stat to use when recruiting.

Even without the win, we can say right now that if you come to UMass you will play against the SEC, the ACC, the Big East and the Big Ten.

No. I make no attempt to keep up with who is saying what there. It is such a morass.

"Michigan, which UMass played last year at the Big House and nearly came away with an upset, has been rumored to be on the 2012 UMass schedule.

UMass officials won’t confirm the game, but both teams do have Sept. 15 available. Michigan has played a MAC team the last three years, will face Eastern Michigan from the MAC this Saturday and has Akron from the MAC on the 2013 schedule."
