Glad to see him pick the Pats... better then rooting for him to do good on the jets. I wanna hear what Ryan says about this now... He loved Ihedigbo as a player. Another one to the good side(or dark side for Ryan).

This is great news and I think he has a real legit shot at making the final 53 too.

Had a feeling this was coming after the news that he would be released. Just seemed like he would fit in well here.

This was a perfect scenario for James. The Patriots are thin at safety and lost a safety to injury in their last pre-season game. They also look for players who can contribute on special teams in addition to their position respnsibilites. James fits in perfectly for this. Much easier to root for him now.

Plus Belichick is not enamored of Meriweather and would unload him in an instant for the right deal. James is a ferocious special teams player and I agree that he has a very good chance of making the active roster.

Hometown boy with his hometown team. He spent 4 years in hell, now he is where he belongs. Welcome, James!

Someone who watched last night's game, can you report on how much time James got on the field and how he did?

I was driving from Maine and flipping my radio to Pats when Sox were in commercial. Heard that he made a special teams tackle, but that's it...

James Sanders has been released. -- http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/6906534/new-england-patriots-plan-cut-safety-james-sanders

HUGE help for James...? I think so. Even though he will likely only be relegated to special teams, this can't hurt.

While I feel sorry for Sanders, who has always been a good, upstanding player for the Pats, this has to be great news for James. The Patriots were thin at safety anyway, and it could be that they chose to keep a player who could contribute both as a safety and on special teams. I don't recall Sanders being an impact player on special teams.

James played the whole game at safety as well as playing special teams. This is terrific.

He made some excellent hits, and in general seemed to be in the area a lot. On a Jets TD, the receiver lost our corner, and James arrived late. Not his man, but maybe he should have been on scene earlier.
