Why not? UMASS was, and still is, a party school. What is wrong with that? It doesn't take away from the academics. If anything, it helps show that the school has a social atmosphere.

I've never understood the argument against the zoo mass name.

My experience has been that when someone wants to denigrate the University, he/she will say Zoo Mass and then snicker. It is always a direct attack on the academic integrity of UMASS. When someone says this to me, I take it as a direct insult. It really hurts that one of the most visible alumnus says this on national tv. I just can't believe he said that. Crying or Very sad

Yeah I heard it and I was bummed out. In the grand scheme of life it isn't that big of deal but I was definetly dissapointed. I was actually looking forward to it and was wondering if he was going to say Umass vs University of Massachusetts, but I just never saw this coming. Poor form.
