Joe Mauger might be the #1 UMass fan that I have ever known. No matter what the sport, no matter what the weather, Joe was there, and for football he hardly ever sat, circling the action.
He was an original here, known as The Old Bald Grad, or OBG.
His wife, Nancy, is also a dedicated fan. I hope that folks here who have encountered the Maugers will let her know how we have felt about Joe.

If anyone needs the address to write Nancy a note, send me a private message here.
Not to slight the UMass fund, but an excellent suggestion for a donation in Joe's name is to the Sunderland Library, where Nancy volunteers. _________________ "Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here." |

I'm saddened by OBG's passing.
I enjoyed getting spending time with him at varuious UMass sporting events over the years. _________________ "Win without boasting, lose without crying." -- Julius Erving |

Over the years of running the show here, I've gotten to know a few of the regulars who read/post here, and Joe was one of them. He was a good man who bled maroon & white, as evidenced by his family's request that donations be made in his honor to the UM general scholarship fund.
It was good to have known you, Joe. |

I can't say I knew Joe well, but I did meet him a few times. Very nice man, and you knew his passion just by seeing him at events. Sorry to hear about the passing. _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |
