| At the luncheon today they had a get well card for us to sign for coach Sortino. She is in the hospital with walking pneumonia. She has had a lingering cold for several weeks now. She did not make the recent trip to Florida. |

How is Elaine doing? Is she back in the third base box?
Edit: Thanks to Rocks for providing the answer elsewhere:
"She was at the game but all bundled up. Didn't leave the dugout. Assistants did all the trips to the ump for lineup changes." _________________ "Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here." |

This is a lot more serious than a lingering cold. Keep her in your thoughts.

Coach Cal with a pair of really nice tweets about Elaine this morning.
#BBN, let’s send our thoughts and prayers to Elaine Sortino, the longtime softball coach at UMass, who is battling cancer.
Elaine was coaching when I was there. She’s a great coach, administrator, & more importantly, a great friend. I’m thinking about you, Elaine _________________ Muck Fax Page |

Maybe because they just cut and paste from the AP wire without reading or editing. |

That is how the transaction moved on the AP wire ... with UMass instead of Amherst, and missing her first name. _________________ I wrote this ... it's gotta be true. |

| The importance of a quality copy editor can not be understated in this case. Mistakes like this make reputable papers look like junior high school publications. |
