How is a Trader Joe's in Foxborough a "fringe benefit" for UMASS Football? _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

That post made zero sense and I am just as baffled as I was before as to why a Trader Joe's is a "fringe benefit" of UMASS Football playing at Gillette.
I really have to shake my head if the presence of a Trader Joe's or other store in the vicinity of where the team plays is what is going to drive you to games. _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

Yeah, but there's also a TJ's five minutes from McGuirk, although I see from the link that the Foxboro one will sell alcohol. |

God forbid a store in the Amherst area sells alcohol... we don't want to upset Larry Kelley!! _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

with TJs, Marshall's, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods less than a five-minute drive from McGuirk, why did they schedule games @ Gillette? _________________ I'd tell you about my trip to the dentist, but you know the drill. |

TJ's is only allowed three stores in MA to sell alcohol so I'm sure they are being careful about where they sell. Obviously selling in Foxboro means extra sales for tailgate days.
Edit: clearly I didn't read the article before posting that... |

Again, what the hell does a Trader Joe's in Foxborough (sorry, I'll be more specific... in Patriot's Place) have to do with Season Tickets for UMASS Football at Gillette Stadium?? This is so freakin strange! _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

Yet another article:

I was just excited that I can now shop at a TJ's after a Umass football game, so I consider it a fringe benefit of getting season tickets to Gillette. UMass football and a shopping trip at Trader Joe's. It's about as much fun as we can have out here in the deep suburbs! Didn't mean to get you all worked up about it! |

Ok, as long as it is confirmed that this is a fringe benefit to you... I didn't understand it otherwise.
Whatever floats your boat! I'll take my Stop & Shops and Roche Bros anyday of the week! And I don't need them to be near Gillette either _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

| I would have been happy if they could sell beer on game days - they actually have a good selection! That being said, it is nice to have someplace you can pick up extra/last minute supplies at close by. |

good point re: 3 stores only...
it's all about the MA law that allows retailers a max of three locations they can sell alcohol; so, they have to choose wisely where, for max sales...
Whole Foods uses the Hadley store as one of their three (others: Dedham and Cambridge-River street location).
BTW, it's easy to confuse using TJs as Trader Joe's or TJ Maxx...
The only other soon to be new store opening in New England for Trader Joe's is in Nashua. _________________ I'd tell you about my trip to the dentist, but you know the drill. |
