^ So fun to watch, has absolutely been a rock in net so far. Even sweeter that he's doing it against those crybaby Canucks.. _________________ Any team, any time, any place |

I enjoyed a brief fascination a number of years ago with the Kings. I may need to pick up a Quick jersey.......
Then again, some UMass tweet a week or two ago said something about Quick leading the Sacramento Kings to the playoffs or some such...... |

Quick is one of the three finalists for the Vezina, along with Lundqvist (Rangers) and Rinne (Predators).
Lundqvist probably wins it, but the Kings don't even sniff the playoffs without Quick.
(Side note: Smith from Phoenix probably should have been the third finalist instead of Rinne.) _________________ I wrote this ... it's gotta be true. |

| Quick will be on the Dan Patrick radio show coming up this hour. It's on the radio and on TV, same channel as Celtics games. |

He might not win the Vezina, which is a shame, but he certainly is the Conn Smythe favorite now that the Flyers are flaming out. _________________ I wrote this ... it's gotta be true. |

Ive been following the Kings since he played down in manchester and this team has grown to be my close second favorite besides the bruins of course. Tough team not to fall in love with. They play hard clean and have an incredible UMass alum holding down the fort in net. Go Kings! _________________ "Derek Kellogg has a great love and passion for UMass."

Quick has been the backbone on this amazing run to the Stanley Cup finals! They are alot better than an 8 seed but early season struggles including a coaching change really tempered the expectations of this team. Its great to see a solid hockey team with very little character flaws going this far. GO KINGS! _________________ "Derek Kellogg has a great love and passion for UMass."

Leave it to the Hartford Courant to completly omit the fact that Quick went to college...or more specifically, UMass...
| JEFF OTTERBEIN, jotterbein@courant.com wrote: | Quick, 26, played two seasons at Hamden High and then moved on to Avon Old Farms for his junior and senior seasons. He was drafted in 2005 by the Kings. Shortly before the draft, Avon Old Farms coach John Gardner, who at the time had been there 30 years, told The Courant: "He's probably the best I've had, and I go back a ways. I've had some good ones, but he's got the full package. The only person who can stop Jon is Jon."
And that has not happened, which is what Gardner predicted at the time.
"When Jon gets in a situation, he doesn't lack for confidence," Gardner said. "He's a risk-taker. He looks at every situation as a challenge. He's not thrown off his game by external circumstances. He's a confident competitor, too, and that's the key to being a good goaltender."
Quick, who led Avon Old Farms to two New England Division I prep hockey titles, was selected by the Kings in the third round of the 2005 NHL draft in Ottawa.
He was outside playing Wiffle ball with friends when he heard screams from his house. He was the 72nd pick, the eighth goalie selected |
Yeah Jeff, he went from leading Avon Old Farms to two New England D. 1 prep titles to playing wiffle ball in the driveway. _________________ "Win without boasting, lose without crying." -- Julius Erving |
