And let them know that the #1 in the nation, 14-0 State U lacrosse team is hosting its league championship game Saturday night.
*Thanks to Kosty for pointing out the error of my ways. I initially had Friday night. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999....

Why do you let this bother you? They barely cover the b-ball and football team, and you expect them to cover lacrosse?!?!?!?! _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

They covered the basketball team when it was #1 in the country. They covered the football team on its march to the national championship. Lacrosse is HUGE in eastern Massachusetts and the Globe should be covering this team's great season on a regular basis. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

Are you really comparing lacrosse to basketball and football? _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

^ 78 is right.
In addition to what he posted, given that the NCAA tourney is in eastern Mass., they should be all over this.
Too often, it seems, the question as to why the Globe fails to cover UMass is a two part answer, first, they don't seem to know what's happening in the 413 and second they don't care.
That said, if there was some sort of scandal or "riot" on campus, guess what...they'd lead with the story!
Massachusetts is a small state but the gap between Boston and western Mass. is much wider than the 90 or so miles that separate the two geographically.
The Boston media, TV and newspapers, need to be in Amherst Saturday night to cover this game...period! _________________ "Win without boasting, lose without crying." -- Julius Erving |

78 isn't right. Lax is a 3rd (maybe 2nd) tier sport. I love the game and it is big at the high school level (or getting big, I should say), but that doesn't make it worthy of the Globe's reporting when the Globe barely covers the tier 1 sports (b-ball and football) and tier 2 sports (hockey, wbball, maybe lax). The Globe doesn't give a fuck.
I wish they would put more coverage into it, especially since we are the #1 team in the country, but I'm not at all surprised by their lack of coverage. _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

| The Globe LOVES college hockey but that's probably because it's such a huge sport in Boston. |

And then you both hit the nail on the head regarding the other reason! Well done _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

Innervisions: with all due respect, you are dead wrong. UMass is now 15-0, the CAA champion and number 1 team in the country, yet still not a word from the Globe. However, this morning's paper has a lengthy story on the incredibly popular (insert sarcasm) Boston Cannons professional lacrosse team. So they can find lots of column inches for a team in a league that basically no one cares about, but they can find no space for the number 1 college lacrosse team in the country? _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

| You mean the Cannons who continue to draw north of 9K to their games every week? The same Cannons who are the only team in Boston right now that can actually repeat as champions of their sport? By the way, there were maybe 5 sentences about the men's lax team on the bottom of the back side of page 1 in the Sports section today. |

You want to be friends with Kosty? It's pretty simple. Spell Siena correctly. Respect the Boston Cannons. And don't mention any western mass sportswriters whose name might rhyme with Don Flameelis. Follow these three rules, and you're all set.

Apparently I'm not dead wrong at all, and the Globe continues to prove that. _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |
