I posted some of my impressions of the offense on the Maroon Musket blog but one thing I didn't mention was my thoughts on the defense. In the second half when the game became a normal scrimmage, the sides split apart and the defense went to the far side of the field and immediately noticeable was the lack of numbers on that side of the ball. At various times the first team O went against the 1st and 2nd team Dee and the 2nd string O did the same. While the offense was completely changing all 11 men, the Dee appeared to only being changing some of the players, I just don't think they have enough bodies (capable bodies?) to field two "strings" Looked like the they had enough DBs and maybe LBs but real short on the D-Line.

I know Coach talked about depth being a problem on defense and it was apparent on Saturday.

As for the helmets, glad I'm not the only one who hated hated that blue stripe. Give me red, give me black but blue? No thanks.

Red makes me think of BU. Black makes me think of NU. Our football program having any association with either of those two institutions makes me want to throw up. If they want stripes, make them maroon.

Not the turnout I was hoping for, but I guess it was still a good one. Was a nice day to watch football. The passing game left a lot to be desired, but Jordan Broadnax (RB) looks like he can take the hit and fight for extra yards. Defense looked good.

Brought my camera and took about 70 pics: https://picasaweb.google.com/103913126890789432552/2012MassachusettsFootballSpringGame#

Great pics. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with everyone else, those helmets need to go.

Nice write-up Crooks.

Love these quotes from Molnar, first place I've seen them.

Quote:
“We beat them by about ten times that, we had 2,000. We’re well ahead of B.C. in so many areas right now,” Molnar said.

“A rivalry has to be two ways. A rivalry has to be were both teams can beat the other team. We haven’t played B.C. with this staff and as a I-A team, so I think the rivalry will really begin on the recruiting trail and when we play them in 2013, but let’s get through 2012 first.”

Is Pagel our guy that Molnar plans to ride for the next 3 years or is he merely keeping the spot warm this season until Molnar can get his in here. Personally, I wasn't overly impressed with Pagel last season, thought he was an average FCS quarterback which scares me now in the fbs. Maybe, he's improved (I have seen him since last November) or maybe he's a better fit for this system than Browns? I hope Molnar has someone coming in if Pagel is the same guy as last season. Would love to see a big time QB (by big time I mean for MAC level) to come in and take the reigns in years 2 of Molnar and our first year of being bowl eligible and ride his arm for 4 years. Hopefully leading us to a bowl game and MAC contender by his senior year.

Pagel is a RS Senior this fall. AJ Doyle, Mike Wegzyn, Todd Stafford. All three are young guys coming into the program in the next season or two with some potential. One of them may be your big time QB.

Yeah, great pics Pete. Marcel Shipp is huge in those pics, kid is a rock. Is that RJ Cobbs next to Matty G?

nice pics...
for more re: the bus...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbctUQF22uM

The Futurliner Bus...
12 built and only 3 are supposed to exist...
which would mean that Peter Pan's red one and green one are two of them...

The other was totally restored...not just as a display unit like PP's pair...
and that one sold for $4.1M at a January 2006 Barrteet-Jackson AZ auction...
