You don't need five days for a 16 team tourney. We were already playing a 16-team tourney, it's just that four teams had byes in the first round. In other words, after the first round, you had eight teams left, just as in a 16 team tourney. In a 16 team tourney, after Day 1 you have eight teams, then Day 2 gives you four, Day 3=>2, Day 1=>The Champ! _________________ Always remember that you are unique, just like everyone else. |

UMass - Temple
URI - Fordham
St. Joes - LaSalle
St. Bonnie - Duquesne
GW - Charlotte
Richmond - VCU
St. Louis - Butler
Xavier - Dayton
Not only does it give us one last home and home with our departing former rival Temple, but it keeps most geographic rivals together and also puts this year's expected stronger teams together. |
Crank, I completely agree....probably makes too much sense. |

Katz is saying we will move to an 18 game schedule next year.
| Quote: | | Butler's early arrival will necessitate a number of scheduling adjustments as the league jumps to 18 games from 16, since that’s two fewer non-conference games teams may or may not have scheduled. |

I can't see the A-10 going to 18-games. If there are schools that have already filled out their non-conference schedule, adding 2 more conference games would put those schools over the NCAA limit in number of games. I think the league would therefore stick with a 16-game slate and just reduce the home-and-homes from 3 to 1, as Matty V indicated. |

Is that how 16-team conference tournaments are typically run, with the top 4 teams getting a double bye? |

| I think that's just Big East....I don't know of any other conference that does that. |

Did the A-10 say, or hint, about why they stuck with the 12-team tournament format? The opportunity for generating additional revenue seems possible if they went to a Big East type format in 5 days. |

| I don't think we'll miss the bottom 4 teams from the tournament. We improved the top end of the conference, but as in past years our worst teams are still going to be fairly bad teams by mid-major standards, not bad by Big East standards. If we're trying to make the NCAAs, do we want another game against a team with a mid-200s RPI or worse? Get them out of there, IMO. |

| Completely agree that the bottom 4 should be excluded. A team with a Top 4 finish in this league will deserve the extra day of rest that they get. November can't come quickly enough! |
