| "Awful small"? Are you sure that's true? Tyler Holmes, as a guy who just signed with an NFL team, is the same size as this kid who is still in high school. Anyway, bottom line, if this kid's a great football player and person, then it's excellent news that he's viewing us as his top program. |

You realize we are talking about a 18 year old kid right? He's probably still growing. I think sometimes people think we are talking about mature 22-23 year olds who the Patriots have drafted or something. _________________ UMass '87 |

I agree with you guys. Height-wise he may be a little small, but it is not like he is 5'7'', 175 lbs.
I was much more interested in the article though as a great inside look at UMass' recruiting process under Coach Molnar. Sounds like they are doing an excellent job and really impressing recruits like this one.
It is going to be cool to see how many 3 star players we pick up next year now that the coaches will have a full season of recruiting. _________________ UMass Football-2013 MAC Champions!!!!! |

I imagine he will be coming it to play LB. Watched his highlights after hearing about his verbal. Seemed to be very aware of his surroundings out there and made good reads on the ball (specifically on passes where he was able to get a hand on the ball in a lot of highlights).
His RB highlights compare a lot to the playing style of Toby Gerhart while at Stanford although probably not to the same caliber. He seemed unafraid of contact and willing to run through people instead of around them. He could make some of his competition miss with a stiff arm or well timed cut. Not significant speed, more of a downhill runner. Not sure how that fits into a Spread type offense.

For those without Twitter here is the tweet (@stevecasali5): | Quote: | Committed to #UMASS where I'll be playing at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots!! #pumped #sohappy!!!! |
Interesting that he cites Gillette Stadium in his tweet. Clearly it has been a good selling point in this recruitment, hopefully it is the beginning of a trend.
