Yet another commitment today: Offensive tackle Richard Queen from Bergen Catholic, 6-4, 270lbs. Had an offer from future MAC opponent Central Michigan with more offers expected before he committed to us. Some nice quotes here:

Picked up another commitment today from Sam Zeff, a big offensive lineman from New Jersey. Kid had some big offers and chose UMass today while on campus:

As much as I don't want to jump ahead 7 months, be interesting how many of these guys actually sign to play at Umass. Ah.. the joys of FBS and the nerves of signing day

Reports that we have a verbal from a 6'6" DE from Nantucket named Correia. Matt Alkire says more info to come.

Great interview with football scout Matt Alkire (thanks to the guys at Maroon Musket):

Evaluates our class thus far and mentions that we are doing exceptionally well for a startup FBS program.

Very nice interview BG and nice things said about Coarch Molnar, UMass campus and being the Boise State in the East.

On the class in general:

It’s a MAC school that just turned into a MAC school. If you showed me this class otherwise, I would think it was for an established MAC program, and I would still think it’s pretty good. For UMass, it’s outstanding.

I believe NCAA football teams are allowed to offer 25 schollys per season. As long as the total number of scholarships on the team does not exceed 85. Feel free anyone to correct me, as I am not 100% on it.

Those are the numbers I have seen. With the increased total number available, we must be shooting for 25 new players this year.

I have no idea if the coaches can coach, but I have to give them some serious props. A couple of the mid-major recruits profiled on XOFan, have Umass as one of their top choices. They like the coaches, the school, and the town. Coach Molnar has put together a staff that can recruit. The UConn game can't come fast enough

Suber seems like a guy who is pumped up and excited and that probably translates really well to recruits. He is a young guy who saw time on NFL rosters and even spent time as a scout for the Jags. I credit him as well as Molnar for a lot of our success on the recruiting trail but I am sure that others have had their hands in it as well. Let's hope some of them can come in and play immediately to help us adjust
