^ well you were another source. And I would love Dennehy to come to UMass, its not going to happen unfortunately.

As long as its not a Morris style hire I'll be happy.

Good thing Blaise MacDonald already took the Colby job.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. Exactly my point, I certainly have no inside info on his contract and never presumed to. I simply said my bet was he does not have a huge buyout clause for reasosn stated above.

And my point is neither of you know what the contract says, so stop speculating and arguing with each other. It is pointless. You both want the same thing, UMASS Hockey (and UMASS in general) to be great... stop trying to piss on each other.

Two things ...

Minor quibble: Trovato is from North Attleboro, not North Andover as stated in the UMass release.

Not-so-minor quibble: Dennehy, who is from North Andover (at least as far as his current job), won't be from Amherst any time soon. For reasons explained above. End of story.

Maybe he currently lives in North Andover?

Then "maybe" the writer should have said he "lives in North Andover." Confused

He isn't a college athlete anymore... this isn't a bio that states where he is originally from. Where he resides now is where he is from. Assuming that he does live in North Andover, the release is accurate in its wording. If he doesn't live there, then that is an issue.

I have no idea if he does live there or not, just pointing out that that may be the case.

According to sources (via Rocks and Dewey), sounds like Rand Pecknold of Quinnipiac is the clear front-runner now. Thoughts? Rocks had a good point that Quinnipiac's lack of an NCAA appearance in ECAC brings to question whether Pecknold could get there in Hockey East. My sincere hope is that it is easier to get better players to come to UMass than it is to go to Quinnipiac.

The downgrade of the hockey program will be complete if Pecknold is the hire.

FTT is reporting that Rand is the pick.

I'm going into this with "cautious optimism," but we should be scared. Be very scared.

Many Q fans seem happy to be done with Rand. Many of their complaints mirror many of our complaints (mid season collapses, never being able to get to that next level, etc.). I hope he brings a new philosophy and some new recruiting leads, but I'm concerned.

Or QPac figured their only coach ever wouldn't want to leave. There also could be a buyout in play that wasn't too horrible. Your assumption that college hockey is 'too small time' to have buyouts is still misplaced.
