My favorites in the past were the UM with the minuteman statue and the UM in a diagonal (kinda looked at that as our look). The interwoven UM is cool but that's done everywhere else. As far a uniforms, it wasn't long ago but the all maroon shirt with white letters and the white pants with maroon/white/black/white/maroon stripes down the side, that looked the best.
Here's something else, with our potential rivalry with Temple starting, should we start a trophy, and if so, what would it be?
-Something that has fallen off the Coolidge bridge
-Bronze head of John Chaney
-A souvenir from ESPN HQ when Sam was doing a commercial shoot
Did we ever do this with any other schools? I noticed that NH and Maine trade a musket. |
When's our contract with adidas up? If we could jump on the Nike Pro Combat bandwagon it would draw a ton of attention to the program. I might sound crazy saying this but it also could help with recruitment in some ways. Plus the adidas jerseys, and clothes in the campus bookstore are not very popular among students. Switch to Nike I think they would make more money on those too. This idea might sounds crazy, but it could help just a little bit in pushing us over the edge to people. If we had some crazy patriotic/old school revolutionary themed alternate uniform I think we'd get some national attention |

| No offense, but that is the worst idea that has ever come out of these "just thinking" threads. Those Nike Pro Combat uniforms are horrific. Besides, Nike only makes them for teams that get a lot of exposure for the brand. We would have no chance of getting them even if it wasnt a terrible idea. |

I'm not a fan of the combat unis either but I wouldn't say it was a terrible idea to try to get Nike involved. I think most of us can agree that we should stick to some version of Maroon and White and eliminate the black that shows up a lot in the current football uniforms. |

I have no idea how that is the worst idea ever presented considering one time I read someone wanted to crash the Mullins Center. It's not to have pretty uniforms or anything like that, it's more to get the attention and even if we don't have the combat uniforms nike would promote us better than adidas. |

| Having Nike involved is perfectly fine, it's the Pro Combat that is a downright terrible idea. |

I wouldn't say a terrible idea, more of one that won't happen. I was using it as an example of how I feel like Nike would market us/make us more appealing some ways. It very easily could not, but I won't lie some of the Boise State apparel is pretty cool looking. They were a D-1AA/FCS or whatever it is, something like 12 years ago? They've marketed the hell out of them, and with that blue turf I feel like those are two gimmicks/traditions that have at least in my opinion increased their popularity. |

| When we go FBS, win some conference titles and a couple BCS games and spend a few years in the top 10, Nike might market the hell out of us too with some Pro Combat. Until then, they would just outfit us with uniforms just like they did when we had our deal with them seven years ago. You gotta be marketable to be marketed, and we're not right now. |

| I think the problem with that design is it gets muddied up on TV. That's why everyone has been switching to very simple, single letter helmets. I don't want UMass to go the letter route though, I'd like something iconic. |

| A cool Minuteman Football Logo similar to the old Pats throwback logo would be cool to see. |

I agree but the question is what would that be? _________________ Go. Go U. |

I don't know. I would leave that to the Artists to come up with something cooler that those rather lame designs.
I would ask the student artists to submit proposals and if we used a design I'd give them a grant or something. |
