| UTEP smoked OU on a neutral court this year. They have a really athletic, talented team. |

Nice week for UTEP beating Marshall on the road and then coming from behind to beat UAB at home. 15-1 in conference.
It's looking like they'll get in to the NCAAs no matter what happens in the conference tourney.
Here's their bracket:

Considering that they could be playing Tulsa in Tulsa in the semis, it's a good thing they've got the good resume to fall back on. |

Probably. UTEP is a 41 in today's RPI. Bracketology has them as an 8 seed.
Unless there are a ton of conference tourney upsets this weekend, they're probably in, whether or not they win their own. |

| UTEP is in even if they lose the opening game. With how poor many of the atlarge teams are, I think UTEP should be a pleasent suprise in the field. Regarding CUSA who wouldn't love to see a Kentucky 1 seed v Memphis in the second round. |

IF Memphis gets in they will not be an 8 or 9 seed...more like a 11 or 12 and thats if they win the conference tourney. If they lose, they won't even make it. |

| Anyone here want to give a compelling reason why UTEP will win their first round game in the tournament? |

If Barbee makes a nice run in the tournament I could see him making a Bruce Pearl type jump to a major power not satisfied with its coach. Depaul is a good school, but Barbee could potentially get a better situation with some wins. _________________ #bikemarcou |

| I hope Barbee doesn't take the Depaul job because I think that job is a death sentance to a coaching career. It seems impossible to do very well at this gig. The Big East is stacked, and Depaul will be a nonfactor for many years to come, unless Coach Cal comes walking through that door. |

After what I saw on tv last night about El Paso and drug cartels, I would recommend that Tony take the Fitchburg State job if it opened up. _________________ "Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here." |

El Paso is supposedly the safest city in the U.S., but the deadliest city in the world is just a walk across the bridge away. OU Football played in the Sun Bowl in El Paso in December, we decided not to go just because of the risk of going there. Seems to me that until this drug cartel violence has calmed down some, El Paso would not be allowed to have a bowl game for the players and fans safety. |

One of the top defensive teams in the tournament when it comes to opponent points allowed per possession. Given that Butler is kind of a grind-it-out team, UTEP definitely would have a great shot in a low-scoring game. They also shoot the ball pretty well. Pretty good inside player in Caracter, who started his career at Louisville.
Plus I think they are "underrated" as a 12 seed, and that Butler may be a soft 5. _________________ I wrote this ... it's gotta be true. |

| It's definitely a tight one to call. I'm going with UTEPs size to win out which Butler hasn't seen since X and Georgetown. |
