OK, Rhody time. Saturday's game will be the 133rd in the all-time series.

Anybody else think Rhody will be looking for a little payback? Last year Matt Glass screened them out of the NCAA Tourney. They're going to want to Protect This House this year, as they're still a contender for The Dance.

Rhody is now 18-3 on the year, and 6-2 in the A-10. Their conference losses were by 11 at Xavier, and a 4 point loss at home to Temple. The non-conf hit was a 2 point loss at VCU, who is 15-5 themselves this year, including wins over Oklahoma and Richmond. Rhody would be #32 in the AP poll with the votes they're getting. Their RPI stands at 11 with a SoS of 50. Lunardi thinks they'll get a 9 seed in the Dance.

Rhody has a trio of double-digit scorers:
Keith Cothran (6'4", G, Sr) 16.1 ppg
Delroy James (6'8", F, Jr) 13.7 ppg
Lamonte Ulmer (6'6", F, Sr) 12.0 ppg
Ulmer leads rebounding at 7.3 rpg.

Rhody is 2nd in the A-14 in scoring average, 78.1 ppg. (Xavier is #1, we are #5.) Rhody does give up some points too, only 10th in the league in scoring defense, that may bode well for us if our shooting connects. Rhody is dead last in the league in FG % defense.

Rebounding could also be a key. Rhody is last in defensive rebounds, and we are first in offensive rebounds. If we own the glass, and hit some shots, we might give Rhody trouble.

Their fans are certainly looking for payback:

Code:
I still have a bad taste after last year's last second loss to UMass. UMass has been fired up to play Rhody at the Ryan Center in the last several years. The game has usually sold out but this doesn't seem to have intimidated UM. They have even had a few hundred of their fans come with them. URI needs to come to play. Keith and Delroy need to play a complete game. Hopefully the team has memories of last year and it avenges that bitter loss.

Anybody taking the bus down to Rhody? It should be an interesting game. Will the boys be able to bring the intensity they showed in the second half against Xavier? It mightbe worth the trip to see what happens. I'm not a big fan of DK"s coaching style but it seems that the players are playing hard and not giving up so what ever works.

Had not been planning on going; but, alum friend from out-of state, met through hoops.com connection some years ago, and previously connected @ NIT game @ 'cuse, contacted me re: coming in...
We have a foursome meeting there Saturday...

IV...
if you want, I can pick you up on the way along the 495 corridor; unless you are hanging after for a long time (my dog isn't interested in bar-hopping after the game)...

I'm not taking the bus this year, but I did last year and it was a blast. Kudos to the athletic department for doing this again!

I predict we're going to win this one: 66-65.

Like what Mike said about Rhody's issues on the D boards.

They haven't been blowing teams out lately. We'll hang around and will catch a couple of breaks late in the game, for once.

Rhody has the best rpi (12) of any team we've faced since conference play began. I'm gonna guess the Mich St is the only team we've played all season with maybe a better rpi. So be ready, guys!!!!!

• UMass has won four of the last five in the series including both of the meetings in 2008.

• Five of the last eight meetings have been decided by three points or less including the last meeting.

RealTimeRPI says MSU is a 14 today. I don't know what they were during our game, I'm guessing slightly higher because they were #2 in the AP that week.

Main point: Men, don't let this be like the Mich St game.
