I'd like to see Correia play zero minutes the rest of the year. And next year. This guy is a D3 player. He's the least skilled player on the team and doesn't even show that he wants it while he's on the court. Usually your worst players are your scrappiest but he just goes through the motions while he's out there. Play Farrell 35 to 40 minutes a game. At least he shows some heart out there and it shows up in the box score too. I'm tired of watching Gary do NOTHING while he's on the court. Might as well play with 4 guys.

If you did not watch or listen, do not let the final score fool you. We were losing by 21 with 5 minutes to go and looked very bad doing it. Gurley then awoke from his slumber and hit three 3 pointers in 60 seconds against the URI scrubs. Baron put some starters back in and put a stop to it.

The biggest problems today were first half turnovers, missed FT's, failing to get back in transition, and falling asleep on defense. What will it be next game?

I couldn't disagree more. He has had games when he's looked bad, but in this offense when shots aren't going the whole team looks atrocious. He is a legitimate backup PG in the A10, and capable of having games where he performs beyond that.

GC cannot play PG in this offense. He cannot drive consistenly enough.

He started again and led the team today with 34 minutes. You may be getting your wish.

Chris - he's not a legit back-up. If a legit back up means someone who can come in, dribble the ball around the 3 point line and pass it to someone else standing OUTSIDE the 3 point line, then that's what we have in Correia. Shovel said it. He CAN'T drive. I used to think he just didn't want to attempt to drive to the bucket or at least try to penetrate to the free throw line. The guy simply doesn't have the skill to do it. I just can't stand watching him. I love watching the team, but I'd enjoy it with him on the bench.

What a pathetic, pathetic team going nowhere. Maybe Marty Peretz can
find some improvements in the team though!

Yeah too bad he didn't stay at BU for the whole transfer thing would have worked out better for both parties. He would be getting a lot of PT there, instead he will be hogging a scholy and will play about 5 minutes a game tops next year; most likely he will be chilling with Trey and Hill on the bench. Where I played hoops in high school (prep) we were pretty dirty and we had a frosh who was a clown and never played (prob on team cause dad was a donor) showed up to one game in slippers and a newspaper cause he knew he wouldnt play, he also ran the whole next practice, but that was funny, maybe GC should invest in that for next year.

On bus back from game. Gary worked his ass off on defense today. No way should he be getting negative attention after this one. I was most upset with City who cant run and has hands of stone.

First off Ricky Harris becoming the 4th leading scorer in Umass history is very impressive. And he did it without a lot of post season games or 37 game seasons like the 96 team had. However when Maurer was rattling off Ricky's last 4 games the stats are very deceiving. Kellogg said exactly what I was thinking that even though the stats seem good Ricky could be MUCH better. Sometimes it is WHEN you score not how many you score. If it is possible to score a "soft" 30 points Harris has done it.

One other thing is we are getting blocked more than a schoolboy at the movies trying to grab a girls cans on the first date. Somebody needs to coach these guys on the up-fake or Kevin McHale pivot moves and take advantage of the other teams over aggresiveness to get to the foul line. The rejections get the away crowds pumped up too.

One other off topic note...since there are no in game jump balls during NCAA games do they even need to paint and line "the key" above the free throw line? Cant you just draw lthe foul line and the lane and that is it?

When will people stop blamong the kids and talk about the coaching? I beleive DK may get there but he's not there yet. The team looks lost during every game win or lose. They never look like a smart team. GC, nor Glass, who got bashed here last season, are responsible for that.

I'm sorry, but one dimensional players do not belong in D1 A-10 basketball. City has size, and you can't coach that.

The one that really P'd me off was Gurley. He doesn't do squat for most of the game and when Baron puts the bench in he decides to make a highlight reel for himself. No passes, just all AG all the time.

DK very quietly called Ricky out on the postgame.

Edit: I have big problems with the coaching.

It isn't fun watching UMASS lose to URI....... have to say, though, that their students were very tame today.

I'm going to hold off on further comments, though. I think I might explode if I start thinking about this game more.

P.S. URI's last FG was at the 5:03 mark in the 2nd half. Wow. Shocked

once again the players overcome incredibly poor preparation from the coach to at least make it interesting in the end. can we go into at least one game from here on out with a plan to win the first half?

i'd be interested in seeing the team +/- for each half of this season. i don;t think it's a coincedence that we play better when less players are playing in the second half.
