I have been a season ticket holder for UMass men's basketball since the 1973-1974 season.
My dictionary defines "fluke" as "any accidental stroke of good luck".
The Calipari years were a "fluke".
I would not count on it happening again in my lifetime. |

I'm going to hold off on further comments, though. I think I might explode if I start thinking about this game more.
P.S. URI's last FG was at the 5:03 mark in the 2nd half. Wow. |
Kind of a deceiving stat given that UMass was fouling for the last two minutes of the game and URI masde almost all of its free throws. _________________ It's better to burn out than to fade away |

| Kellogg's subsitutions are single handedly killing this team. Would be nice if he scouted a team or two instead of constantly being out on the recruiting trail. Gotta have a system to beat teams before having the players. |

| I was at the game and what disturbed me the most was the horrible shape Baily is in. How long does it take a 20yr old kid to get in shape? This is not only a reflection on his own motivation but also the coaching staff and their ability to motivate these kids. |

It is posts like these that have forced me to take a step back from this site for a while. Baily has lost nearly 80 pounds since he has been here...he is a big guy I am so sick of people getting on his ass because he is "out of shape" The guy has busted his hump and if you see him on the court he gives it EVERYTHING he has every time he is on the court. Give the guy a break!! He may be winded, but he is a big man! I would like to see how you guys would run if you were his size Also, I have no idea how you can say that the shape Baily is in has to do with the coaching staff. I agree it these guys do not appear to be in as good shape as they were with TF but DK will get it. |

| If I'm not mistaken TF gave "Big Deli" a challenge to get in shape and " Big Deli" decided not to take it. But at least the challenge was made. |

You guys are funny. We played a team with the 12th best rpi in the country on their home court and they dominated us. Duh. We have a team with only four players who played college ball last year. And you think you know more about how to prepare a team or make substitutions than Kellogg. Hahahahahaha! Too funny! _________________ Always remember you are unique, just like everyone else. |

You don't need to qualify your statement regarding size, not one of these guys could keep up with him or anyone else who gets major minutes on a D1 team. |

| Let me clarify. I did not mean Baily was the problem. My observation was he is not in the best shape he could be but hopefully in better shape then everybody on this board. From my experience playing Div 1 athletics I found out to be successful you HAVE to be in top physical condition. And the coaches have alot to do with that. |

The difference being that Deli was a leftover from the previous regime, while Bailey was brought along with the new coaching staff. Deli would've dropped of a heart attack if he played in TF's offense |

I think I'm on your side of the fence, regarding this game. Look, we've got issues, no doubt, but we put up a fight against a good team on their floor.
My issue is how we get down to these big deficits, then turn it on and get back in it. We were down 19 just before halftime, then came out swinging and cut it to 7. Then we fell back to 21 down with 5:03 to go, then made another run. Now some of that 2nd run might have had to do with Baron taking out the starters, but still, we turned it on and started scoring at will.
On a team with a large amount of inexperience, sans Ricky, they have to learn that playing in spurts doesn't cut it. They have to play, as the old Patriots' fan banner used to say, Full Tilt Full Time. |

I think we have these comeback spurts because the superior opposition relaxes after getting a big lead. That was my observation with Charlotte and X. And good for us not to give up and to take advantage of the swings in momentum. _________________ Always remember you are unique, just like everyone else. |
