Tim Kenney and Garrett Waller get promoted.
UM hires a guy from Colorado to take over Kenney's old role, sounds like.
UM will also be hiring an Associate Director of Development.

Good news. I also like that we are hiring someone named "Rocko DeLuca". Cool

Rocko DeLuca will assist UMass fundraising efforts by holding donors upside-down by their ankles and shaking vigorously.

^
If a guy named Rocko called me and demanded that I give him money, I would have to oblige.

Is anyone being replaced or are these simply three additional positions in the Athletic Department?

Someone on the UMass football blog posted that our AD is up for two open positions out west. I usually dont put to much into this, but the commentors on that blog have been spot on lately. If it is true, I say dont let the door hit you on the way out. He has done zero for this athletic program in 8 years. Great guy, but I assume he was brought here to get the football team to FBS since thats what he did at Cal Poly, and until an announcement is made, his job is not complete. Now maybe the dismal year the athletic department is having is all because of a down economy and budget constraints, but it really sucks seeing our bball and hockey teams flutter into obscurity.

If he does indeed leave, I'll wish him well ... as long as he doesn't pull a Travis Fraud on the way out.

Cal Poly is in FCS...

McCutcheon was much better than his predecessors especially in terms of hiring coaches and upgrading facilities in my opinion.

He hired Alexis Venechanos, Justine Sowry, and Travis Ford

Some of his other hires atill have the chance to reach that level most notably Sharon Dawley and Ed Matz

Other than completely punting on the most recent football coach hire, I don't have a dispute with any of McCutcheon's decisions. They haven't all worked out, but I think they were based on sound reasoning. And he's managed to find funding for upgrades to facilities in every single sport except baseball, despite the budget tightening. Should we ever be in position to upgrade our all-sport conference affiliation, those improvements will be a big help. Our media packages have slowly but steadily improved as well, culminating with the Springfield 3 deal. It's a shame that all of our highest profile sports are faceplanting at the same time, but I don't hold him directly responsible for all of that.
