Great job by the womens' lax team. Three straight conference championships is nothing to sneeze at. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

| Jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the play-in game, but it's only 6-5 UMass at the half. |

Watched the second half. Very impressed with the team and also with the fact that the top scorer is a freshman. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

I am laxxed out. Went to both games. The ladies game was good fun even though the officials blow the whistle every seven seconds (nothing new with that). _________________ "Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here." |

| ^I know even less about women's lacrosse than I do about men's lacrosse (I never played lax outside of gym class), so I'd been wondering about that. UMass is reputed to be one of the most aggressive WLax teams out there, whereas my understanding is that the more popular tactic is to stall, maintain possession and wait to get fouled. I'm not sure that a sport which plays 60 minutes like it's the last 2 minutes of a basketball game is on the right track, but again, I have a very primitive understanding of this sport. What do more knowledgeable WLax people think of this aspect of the game? |

I honestly don't understand why Womens' Lax is not played almost the same was as mens' lax. The way I see it, Womens' Lax is to mens' lax the way womens' basketball, with 6 players on the court, etc. used to be to mens' basketball. I have never enjoyed watching the womens' game. Too slow, and too little action. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

| Reasonable draw. Loyola is the 6 seed, and we probably get #3 seed UNC if we win. The other options would have been a rematch with #7 Albany followed by a rematch with #2 Northwestern, or #8 JMU followed by #1 Maryland. |

| Game just started. 1-0 Loyola. This is probably the last gasp for UMass sports in the 2010-2011 season. Baseball still has 5 games left, but they're all but mathematically eliminated from the A10 tourney. |

6-1 Loyola midway through the first half. We're losing in pretty much every stat, with turnovers looking like the biggest culprit.
EDIT: 6-3 at the end of the half. Our problems with clearing the ball seem to have been resolved after a timeout. Just need to win faceoffs and grind away. |

14-7 Loyola, final. Even though the losing margin got larger, we played them about evenly after the terrible start and outplayed them for a time, they just made more of their opportunities and blitzed us for multiple goals a couple times.
At any rate, congrats to the WLax team for picking up the only postseason win for UMass this year, even if it was only a play-in game. Just a tough year in everything, other than off-the-field news in football. |
