So says the September issue of the US Lacrosse Magazine, which has Garber at #6.
"Garber Field, Massachusetts (I like the proper use of the school name. ) Don't let it's small size fool you. Towson men's coach Tony Seaman says the Minutemen have "the toughest fans in the country."" Damn right... _________________ "All life we work, but work is a bore. By the way, I recently walked by Garber and saw the new bleachers. Pretty nice... metal stands with maroon plastic covers for each seat. The stands take up most of one sideline.
The press box is not up yet. |

Does it look like the press box is under construction? _________________ "All life we work, but work is a bore. If life's for living, what's living for?" - Ray Davies |

Not that I could tell. There was an empty space for the box, however, in the middle. |

So other than "the toughest fans in the country" why else does it say Garber is at #6?
I've heard lax players from teams call it "Garbage Field." Don't shoot the messenger. _________________ " I have the utmost confidence that DK will revive our program..." - Marcus Camby |

I've heard lax players from teams call it "Garbage Field." Don't shoot the messenger. | It is the ridiculously hard old-school artificial turf even though it was re-carpeted 2-3 years ago. (The story I've heard on that is the field hockey team paid for/wanted real artificial turf and not field turf. Also that Cannella didn't support field turf as strongly as he could have because he does think the hard turf gives UMass a home-field advantage.) Even the paint is as hard as concrete. Comparitively, the field turf at places like Fairfield or even McGuirk is much nicer on the knees. Combine that with the fans proximity and, um, belligerence and I can see why opponents would hate it. (And that doesn't even include the old Syracuse allegations of fans starting fights and throwing oranges.) |

The press box at Garber is finally where it should be instead of taking my usual spot along the rail in front of the hill.

I saw it this weekend, and that whole side of the field looks great! _________________ "All life we work, but work is a bore. If life's for living, what's living for?" - Ray Davies |

Similar to the football banners, looks like Garber got a little upgrade:

I like what they've done. It's a cheap way to give the place a little more character. |

I am extremely impressed by these upgrades. They look very high quality! This is really a great additon to our facilities!
I'm excited to see if there will be similar additions to the Mullins Center, Softball, Track and Soccer facilities, and the Baseball field! |
