The Mid-Summer Classic and the NE Youth Lacrosse All-Star Tournament are happening this weekend - great chance to check out the big and little 'uns.
Don't waste your time going to the University Store if you want some UMass swag, though - it ain't open. _________________ "All life we work, but work is a bore. If life's for living, what's living for?" - Ray Davies |

Most of these tourneys have t-shirts, and I think last Fall they sold some UMASS branded t-shirts on the field as well. _________________ Feeling entitled is JUST a feeling... |

| I watched the MLL All Star game last night on ESPN and Kevin had a few goals. Pretty good watching. Some outstanding talent in the MLL!! |

No question that Boston supports the MLL - with 21k there last night.
But the league is shrinking and one team only has away games - so one wonders if there will be continue to be a viable next step for great players after college. NLL indoors is not the answer. _________________ Feeling entitled is JUST a feeling... |

Yeah, Kevin's team, the Chicago Machine is only playing travel games this year. They are scheduling games around the country and apparently the decision is that whichever area draws the most fans for the game, that's going to be the team's new home or something. They had one game in the Albany area which I'm sure drew VERY well since Kevin and his Tewaarton winning brother Michael went to Albany Academy.
I was shocked by the size of the crowd at Harvard for that game last night. And a TON of the guys that play in the NLL play in the outdoor league.....Paul Rabil, Ryan Powell, Brett Queener, Brodie Merril, Jack Reid, Greg Downing, Mitch Belisle, Matt Abbott, Max Seibald....and I'm sure I'm missing about 2 dozen or so more. About 90% of the Canadians in the NLL play summer indoor up in Canada. |

Huge, and soaked, crowd at UMASS for the mid-summer tourneys.
UMASS branded LAX gear was on sale, as well as Tourney T-Shirts. Most of the larger sized UM gear sold out by 1 pm Saturday. As a marketing guy, it struck me that A LOT more generously sized UMASS gear could have been sold.
Boy, did we get drowned around 11am. Monsoon like, and the drainage ditch across from Lot 33 was literally a river in about 10 minutes.
The grass was SO thirsty, that minimal puddles were extant by 1pm. Amazing, given the volume of rain.
Weird observation - too few trash cans to handle water bottles, and such. _________________ Feeling entitled is JUST a feeling... |
