Well according to this site UMass has jumped back into position to earn a 1st round bye and a trip to Montana St. in the 2nd round. This after having them host a home game against Bethune-Cookman in last weeks prejections.

http://www.nobowls.com/

Last weeks TSN projections had UMass completely out of the postseason so it'll be interesting to see where they land this week.

http://www.sportsnetwork.com/fcs/FCS_Bracket.pdf

And of course, I look forward to Emilimo's projections for this week too.

Edit: The TSN bracket has been updated and they have UMass hosting a 1st round game against Robert Morris.

So one site has them on the road with a 1st round bye and the other has us hosting a 1st round game. What does this tell us?? Absolutely nothing except that we should be in the postseaon if things hold form. A lot can happen in 3 weeks, which we have seen over the last 3 weeks.

^If those are the bottom 8, they'll send Lehigh to UMass and RMU to Liberty. It's the only way to produce multiple bus trips, which is the biggest priority.

Yup. We can give a lot of thanks to about a dozen at-large hopefuls suffering key defeats in the past two weeks. Basically, what we are looking at is... win 2 (or 3) out of the last three and the team is IN with 95% certainty, lose 2 (or 3), even by close margins, and the season ends on November 20th. I'm hoping to make it to the game on the 13th, which will hopefully be for an effective playoff berth Smile

interesting games this week:
William & Mary @ UNH (UNH "needs" 2 out of 3)
Weber State @ Montana State (Weber State "needs" 2 out of 3)
McNeese State @ Sam Houston State (Both teams play Central AK and Texas St after. Winner of this game, if they win last two, could very well take a playoff bid away from the CAA)
Richmond @ James Madison (Nomatter how bad some people want to consider these teams dead, either one running the table will draw strong consideration -- and likely an invitation to -- the playoffs. But both also have to go through William&Mary)

UMass @ Lehigh would be nice...could walk to Goodman over T-Giving break for the game. Though it would be odd rooting against LU...

Nice job once again Emilimo. Your research is always top notch. That would be quite the tough draw for UMass. First playing at Montana, then if they survived that at W&M.

I was definitely intrigued yeserday when I looked at UNH's schedule. They are in the same position as UMass having to win 2 of 3 to get in, the only reason they're ranked 7 spots in front of us is because they've been hot as of late and we haven't. Otherwise both schools have very similar resumes. One could argue that UNH has more bad L's with the URI and Maine games and their quality wins come against Richmond, JMU and UMass. UMass hasn't lost to a bad team poll wise, even though the Richmond game was a bad lost. I'd put the victories over W&M and JMU on the road over UNH's quality wins of Richmond and JMU on the road. However, UNH beat UMass pretty handily so I'd give them the upper hand right now in terms of resumes.

Won't matter probably if both teams win 2 of their last 3. Although UNH has a much more difficult road with W&M at home, Villanova on the road and finally hosting Towson. I could see them losing their next two games, but at the same time they are talented enough to win both. I'd saying the W&M is a 50-50 game and from what I've seen of Nova, I'd say UNH has more talent. But are they the better team? And can they beat them on the road?

I'd take UMass's schedule of Maine and Delaware at home and URI on the road if I had the choice of the two, but UNH probably would have too before they lost to Maine and URI.

No matter what it should be fun to watch over the final 3 weeks. I love CAA football, especially this team of year. What other conference in the country can say the team currently 9th in the conference standings is ranked in the top 25 (JMU)??

Thanks! As far as the draw... yes it would definitely be the toughest path. But if the team wants to secure a first-round bye it would probably mean winning out. The best scenario I could envision at this point is (one) northeast team such as Central CT or Holy Cross winning their division (but not the other) making an obvious bus-trip first-round match at UMass, the winner of which placed to play the #3 if Delaware/Villanova which, as of today, would clearly be the easier side of the bracket. (I think EWU, SFA, JSU are a tad bit overrated)

Yup the CAA can still get 6 teams in if all the cards fall in place. Unfortunately, kind of like what happened to the A10 basketball last season, I see it being 3, maybe 4.

They hit another home run at QB, they have a standout receiver and deceptively deep at skill positions, and three (yes, three) Buchanan nominees on defense.

UMass has some experience with the same type of spread option offense though from Michigan, and by no means are the Mountaineers invincible. I'd love to see an ASU--UMass game.

Sounds a lot like Richmond on the defensive side of the ball with 3 Buchanan award finalists. App. st. has an explosive offense to match its defense, Richmond is hurting on that side of the ball.

App should be ranked 4/5 this week in the polls. They end the season with a game vs Wofford for the SOCON title and then @ Florida. Very rough ending for them. They could finish the season with 3 losses but should have at least two. They will be a 4/5 seed with 2 losses and a non seed if they have 3. I say the top two teams coming into this week are W&M and Delaware. W&M has losses vs UMass and North Carolina. Delaware only has a loss vs W&M. How great would it be to go into the playoffs with wins vs two top 5 teams. We would have no doubt getting into the playoffs regardless of the URI game.
