| Tomorrow is the big one. Need to find a way to score a run on Fordham. If we win, it forces Fordham's ace pitcher to pitch 4 games in 2 days to win the tournament. Lose, and Plourde has to do that. |

Fordham has another pitcher who has 17 wins on the year...they have the pitching to make it through the loser's bracket _________________ http://atlantic10softball.blogspot.com/ |

| 0-0 after 5 innings. We're getting no-hit, but Plourde has only given up 1 hit. A single bad pitch might determine this. |

Still 0-0 after 6, but we've finally broken up the no-hitter (Webster).
Last season I thought Plourde was stronger in late innings than Mineau, but I'm not sure if that's still the case. I think we're starting to make better contact though.
EDIT: 7th inning flew by, we're in extra innings. Both the California freshmen have now hit Mineau, but we can't string anything together. If neither pitcher slips, this could go on for awhile.
8th inning: Plourde strikes out a batter for the third out after Fordham puts runners and 2nd and 3rd with the help of a throwing error. Off to the 9th... |

Bottom of the 10th, we're in trouble. Runner on third with no outs after a double followed by a wild pitch. Fordham has been hitting deep flies. We need strikeouts.
Now runners on 1st and 3rd after the walk. #9 hitter at the plate.
Ground ball to 2nd, can't throw home. Fordham scores. Ballgame.
We're supposed to play again later tonight in the loser's bracket.

| We are tied with St. Joe 2-2 with a weather delay at this time. Looks like they are having scattered thunderstorms. |

| Just lost 6 - 2 in nine innings. So we are probably done for the season. |

If UMass got in it would be for one of two reasons
-Lifetime achievement award for Coach Sortino
-They are in desperate need of a Northeast host _________________ http://atlantic10softball.blogspot.com/ |

| Frustrating season. Maybe it's for the best. Give Plourde a longer rest, Raymond time to develop, Bettencourt to heal, more hitters, etc. We're only losing Boutin and Carta to graduation. If everyone gets healthy this team will be back in the polls next season. But you know it's a bad year for UMass sports when even the softball team misses postseason. |
