According to ESPN, WR Rodney Mills committed to UMass on 9/8/11 for 2012. This link to the UMass Football Blog provides some info. ESPN lacked any real bio other than he is at New Milford Prep in NY>

According to ESPN UMass picked up another commitment from Joseph Jones a 5'10" RB from Georgia. Also, AJ Doyle has de-committed from NC State because he wants to play QB in college. He mentions he has continued to talk to UMass since committing to NC State.

If he signed a letter of intent, I'm pretty sure that would be. Did he just verbal?

Doyle is just a verbal. No one can sign until national signing day, the
first Wednesday in February 2012. UMass or anyone else can talk to
recruits whether they verballed or not.

It's not a sure thing but I'd really like to see this AJ Doyle kid play QB at UMass.

ESPN Boston reporting Vondell Langston of Everett HS is currently being recruited by UMass with UConn starting to show interest.

He's the quote on Langston;

Quote:
He's drawn mild interest from UConn and Syracuse, but said UMass -- which is moving to the MAC in 2012 -- is the only school pursuing him at this point.

Just glancing at commitments from other MAC teams, it seems we're lagging behind. Most have 5 or more commitments for class of 2012 at this stage...we have one, I believe. Not sure if it has anything to do with our transition, but hopefully it's not too late to make up ground for this year. If we do have a poor recruiting season, it could be a double whammy this year because we can no longer count on transfers in the spring.

..recruiting..
Yes..I was saying the same thing..I would think we'd have a few more verbals at this point. I know we need to wait a bit for the big boys to fill out there classes..but still a little nervous that we haven't a few more. Who is at fault here, the coach? Hmm.

..of course without inside information this is a hard topic to debate ..BUT..if you look at some of the CFB recruiting boards/sites..it looks like we have about 20 offers on the street..of which 2 have given a verbal to UMass and over half of the rest have done the same with another. As we need to add more schoolies as mandated to move up to FBS..shouldn't we have a few more out there? What the hell is KMo's staff doing? I looked at the MAC and most, with the exception of the cellar dwellers have at least a half a dozen verbals at this time. I find this confusing. The good news, I guess..and I am trolling for silver-linings..that a new coach doesn't have a lot of lousy offers to honor.

Anyone know if we are onto any of the kids from Everett? What about the DiBiaso kid at QB? Seems like some of the Ivy's on him..he is a just a winner..and we need to draw from the best in this region to succeed. There is some underrated talent in MA? And then there are the 2 CM kids heading to Penn State..might be time to check their temperature.

Pretty hard for players to make a commitment when you don't know who the coach is going to be next year. I would think that by sometimes next week we will know Morris's status and then the recruiting can move on.

True. Very true. My point was there are really no offers..hence what is KMo doing..does he know he is done? If you look at the offers we have out there of the 20..most were reaches to come to UMass to begin with..hence the overall effort is even worse.
