Something like replacing John Wooden or Red Aeurbach.

From the Gazette:

IV, yes, definitely "separated at birth."

Does this mean we'll finally get a hockey band?

What's the deal with Thom Hannum? Did he not want to be the band director?

When someone comes up with the bucks to pay the band like the BB band is paid then I guess there will be a hockey band.

In the past the offer of money was there and yet, there was no hockey band, so that was/is not the issue.

Yes they do. I think that it is $ 25 per game. Don't know where the money comes from but there has been discussion in the past about having a band at the hockey games and the answer was no cash was available to fund it.

I do not believe the Hoops Band is paid... last time I checked, they volunteered and were typically given a meal.

I'll check on this.

From a friend of mine:

Quote:
Hoop band is a 1 credit class and the games are part of that grade. During winter session (when classes are not in session) the people volunteer to come back from home to play the games. 25 or 30 people who drive the furthest to be there are paid $25 per game, but not everyone. Pizza is provided for winter session games.

At one time, there was an offer out there from I believe the pond club to pay hoop/marching band members to play at hockey games. The members were strongly encouraged by the band leadership to not do so.

The issue has never been funding or desire of the hockey program to have a band.
