Amazing. UMass football playing at Notre Dame!
While we are all excited, remember to promote the program (and the school in general) as much as you can! I've been wearing my UMass Football sweatshirt as often as possible. |

Great get. It's not unheard of for a MAC/WAC/SBC team to get a guarantee game from Notre Dame, but it's fairly infrequent. Western Michigan got one a couple years ago and Akron is also supposedly playing in South Bend in 2015. Temple even got a 2 for 1 from them.
The somewhat interesting thing is that the scheduling sites already have 12 games for Notre Dame in 2015, so perhaps someone backed out. Maybe Syracuse or Pitt, given that they are moving to the ACC and increasing from 7 to 9 conference games. Their loss, our gain if so. |

| wow. Seems coach doesnt subscribe to the Kellogg not playing Kentucky because of friendship mantra. This is huge if true. While I realize it will be a guarantee game the fact that we seem to be going for it rather than playing the safe FCS and non AQ out of conference schedule is very encouraging. I'm in New York not Massachusetts and thus not privy to the excitement level where it is paramount. When I meet people here they seem to be somewhat into the upgrade after I mention it although not sure if that transcends into paid admission. How is the mood in eastern MA? |

I don't know if the "not playing Kentucky because of friendship" thing is on DK's part. I think it's a KNOWN mantra among the Calipari coaching tree. Cal and Tony HAVE to play each other because of the conference thing but I don't think Bru has played Cal much if ever and the only reason DK played Bru was because it was in the NIT. Matty had an article recently in the Gazette about the "family" and mentioned the "not playing each other" thing. And the last time we played UK was in the Ford years. |

| Kosty- And Calipari's coaching tree is relatively young and very close knit and seems fiercely protective in part because of the detractors. I don't have any issue with their decisions. I don't know the level of Coach Molnar's relation with the Notre Dame coach and there are probably other UMass actors who were instrumental in the Notre Dame scheduling (If true) including the Athletic Director. If this game occurs it really is a statement. I just would like to see our administration supportive as well. |

Dick Baker who I believe covers Pucks comments at the bottom that our AD may deserve some credit for helping get this done. Apparently he was a driving force in getting ND into HE.
This would be very exciting!
Love the approach the department is taking with scheduling ooc so far. Either BIG name schools for the payday's the program needs now or 1 for 1's with BCS schools. I really think UMass is going all in for football!! _________________ UConn girls are........................... Huskies!! |

I'm late to the party, but this is FANTASTIC news!!!!!!!!!!!!
Over the next 5 years, we play UCONN, Indiana, Michigan, Vandy, BC, Wisconsin, Colorado, Notre Dame and Florida. And of course, a few of these are multipe games. Amazing scheduling! _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

Matty V reported those two as well (maybe just via Twitter or FB)... That is as official as this is, per a conversation I had with him last night. _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |
