He's playing hurt. A hard-hitting safety with a shoulder injury is like a kicker with a toe injury.

Jackman - fair enough. It's just been weeks of agony watching him out there. Not all of it by any stretch is his injury. He is very frequently grossly out of position. That may have more to do with a lack of leadership on the defense given that Chung is their leader (Mayo seems to have abdicated responsibility).

Watching the game with my father today, he sarcastically stated "OH NO! The UMASS guy is down! I hope he is ok!", and then, when Ihedigbo went back in (not sure if it was two plays later, or the next series due to a punt), he sarcastically yelled out "PHEW! Thank God he is ok!"

This is, of course, in reference to James being down and injured in each of the last 7 (I think) games. It was a nice laugh Very Happy

Bertrand (UMass alum) was giving him crap on the Sports Hub recently, saying his weekly shoulder injuries should be sponsored and he played the UMass fight song in the background.

Bertrand is a pretty funny guy. I wonder how many times he's been injured doing the sports update? Surprised

With the Super Bowl creeping closer, is Ihedigbo starting to feel that pressure?

“Nah! I’m enjoying it,’’ he said.

Love that!

Not mentioned in that story: Tom Cullen also was a grad assistant at UMass in the late 1980s under Jim Reid.

Belicheck loves him, and I would think he had to have another offer out there, but I think it may be difficult for James to make the squad. Given the two rookies they drafted, signing Gregory and w/ Chung already in mix. We will see, I hope so, I mean heck he started in the super bowl last year.

he was cut today - from WEEI:

The 28-year-old Ihedigbo, who tweeted his dismissal on Friday afternoon, played one season with New England, finishing the 2011 campaign with 69 tackles (46 solo) in 16 games, 12 of them starts. Ihedigbo, 6-foot-1 and 214 pounds, is a product of UMass.
