Very, very sad. From everything I've heard about him, he was a class act and always represented the University very well. Tremendous loss for UMass, Orioles organization and fans, and baseball. My deepest condolences go out to his family. _________________ "When in doubt, use brute force." -- Ken Thompson |

Mike is remembered as one of the ten top athletes of the 20th century in NH. A friend - with a family connection to Mike - remembers him as a kind and sweet guy, and many people are truly shocked at this ending.
A native perspective from high school, etc., is here: http://www.unionleader.com/article/20110825/NEWS/708259959/-1/news
RIP Mike - you were a great pitcher at UM and the pros. _________________ Feeling entitled is JUST a feeling... |

I'm not a fan of the same topic in two places, but this situation gets a pass.
Look over in the Men's Hoop forum for good posts from our old friend Tom McLaughlin

Did you know?
Although Flanagan was only with the Minutemen for two seasons, his career ERA of 1.19 and career winning percentage of .923 (12-1) are both still the best marks in school history. |
