Down 3-2 after 1. UNH scores with 5 seconds left in the first period as UMass gives up the puck in its own end. Same old, same old. Mastalerz gets his first start in goal. I am listening on the radio, so not sure if the first two goals were on him or not, but I just wonder why Toot would start an unproven freshman seeing his first varsity action in a game that this team really needs to win.

4-2 now, just 35 seconds into the second period. Mastalerz is done. Another great move by Toot to start him in this game. This is turning into a nightmare.

Nice -- they wave off the goal, but Mastalerz is still done. Not a good way to the kid to start his career at UMass.

Make that 5-2. This season is already a NIGHTMARE.
Mastalerz coming back into the goal.
Toot is doing a GREAT job with this team.

Make that 6-2. Still in the second period. Can Toot resign on the bus ride on the way back to the valley?

Where is the Gedman kid when you need him? Embarrassing.
6-3 -- Sheary on the power play.

Toot is not bright enough or have the stones to do the honorable thing and take his State Pension now. Seems like he has given up on the game by putter Masterlaz back in net. Tegs must be in Stumpy's dog house or does he get thrown to the wolves er Eagles tomorrow night? By the way Stumpy was Toot's nickname when he played at BU and not because he was short.

Er -- 7-3 with 10 left in the game. Another great showing by your Minutemen.

7-3 final.

The beat goes on: 0-4-2 in league play, 1-4-2 overall.

Tomorrow night could be very ugly.

Just got back from the Whit. It was not pretty at all. Hope trip back from Mullins will be more pleasant tomorrow.

Is McCutcheon keeping Toot and Morris around strictly for monetary reasons? If not, he is the problem and needs to go.

Nice first period, tied at 1. Now, can they maintain the smart, intense play?

If a win can instantly turn the season around, beating number 1 BC could be it. The big Belarusian was unreal tonight. Cannot remember the last time this team played a complete game like this. I still have me expectations set fairly low. Cannot have a letdown next weekend.

They looked good, played well, and deserved the win. A defensive struggle, with limited on net shots.

I thought the TV broadcast was amateurish: poor audio, jumpy video, and then no score/time overlay on the screen, at least for the third period.

Marginally better than the internet broadcast, or was it the same?

Anyway, any win over BC in hockey is huge. And I gave them no chance - and am glad to be wrong.
