Either this team has decided to quit or they simply are a bad team. This was the worst period of hockey I have seen in a long time. Shots on goal were 16-5 and faceoffs were 19-3 in favor of Q. The faceoffs number to me is the clear indication of lack of effort. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

0-4. Q has one shot in this period and they scored. Goal comes after a UMass powerplay that featured 2 shots on goal. 0 for the last 17 PPs. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

What an embarrassment . . . anyone know when Toot's contract is up.
This team has quit on him! |

Two more years, I believe. If the University had the money, they should fire him immediately after this game. This team has absolutely quit on the head coach. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

It honestly appears that this team is barely trying. 4 powerplays in the period and they only had 5 total shots on goal and a total of 10 for two periods. This team is a laughingstock. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

What is Pecknold's status at Q? Might be a good guy to go after. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

Two good things about this game: they played an inspired third period and broke the PP drought. Other than that, same old same old inconsistency between periods, games and weeks. To me, the inconsistency over the past three years is pretty much all on the coach. Barring some sort of a miraculous turnaround, this season looks like it might be worse thn last when all is said and done.
What will Toot say today? After the Vermont game he's said something like it was a step in the right direction. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

| Pecknold has been at the Q for 18 years he is not going anywhere. Did not listen to the post game but would bet Toot takes none of the blame. If this keeps up for the rest of the season then it is time for a change of coaching staff. As far as what the globe will say on money spent on buyouts who cares. It was stupid for McCutcheon to give Morris guaranteed money, he can now sit home as he has 2 full years of salary. No coach is worth guaranteed money, there should always be a buy out clause. I do not know if Cahoon's contract is guaranteed but he should do the right thing and step down if there are no changes in performance/outcome. |

I am extremely dubious that Toot will get the exit until contract up. If he was shown the door, given other bad decisions, it makes the A.D. vulnerable on his job, plus another big $$ payout.
In many ways, the Morris and Toot tracks are similar - are they good recruiters, good game coaches, and can they keep their teams enthused for long seasons? I think the answers to all 3, for both, are now no. And Toot has way more experience in the Top Echelon, as we compete in H.E.
Still, UMASS priority must be Football, and a total reconstruction. There is NO WAY hockey is not left lying fallow for 2 years, until it is contract year. THis is not Notre Dame.
I watched the first and part of the second period, until I could stand no more. _________________ Feeling entitled is JUST a feeling... |

Just signed an extension, and you really think a coach who hasn't gotten to the NCAAs since the team moved up to the ECAC is a good choice? Seriously, Qpac has poured a LOT of money into a new rink, NESN contract etc and he can't even win an ECAC regular season or ECAC tourney and you want him at UMass. |

I am grasping at straws, but I know that nothing is going to happen for two years and this program is going to continue to decline. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |
