When your top goal scorer is a healthy scratch, things just aren't going right.

A discouraging period that continues the poor play of the last two games. Little or no sustained offensive pressure, six shots on goal, poor passing and overall lazy play. This team looks sick. Vermont stinks, had 3 shots on goal, and still walks away with a 1-0 lead. Can't wait to hear why Pereira is scratched.

UMass -- 12 shots on goal after two periods, following a 16-shot effort Saturday night against Lowell. What the hell is going on here?

Another failed powerplay. UMass now 0 for its last 16. Good thing Toot benched the team's top goal scorer tonight.

UMass hockey -- where the season lows just keep on coming. In a three-game stretch where they needed to and should have taken at least 4 points, they come away with one. Thirteen games into the season and it looks like this team has packed it in, except for a couple of players. And, you have to wonder about the mental state of this team and how it will respond to the fact that its leading goal scorer was benched tonight.

Some of the numbers: 0 for its last 16 powerplay chances, 0-4 tonight against the worst penalty kill in the country, 3 goals in the last 3 games, 35 total shots in the last two games, and on and on and on.

This program is dead in the water. How anyone can defend this coach at this time is beyond me. The longer he stays, the worse the program will get. Perhaps if they fail to make the HE playoffs this year he will be gone. One can only hope.

Merrimack, #1 in the country, UMass, #9 in hockey east. Total joke.
