I was suprised to see this pop up in my Twitter feed, but it is reported by the very-reliable Inside MD Sports.
| Quote: | | #UMass today offered Mt. St. Joe's junior guard Kameron Williams, who continues to gain buzz among recruiters. |

A quick glance at his Rivals profile tells me he's a Class of '13 guard from Baltimore. He's listed at 6'2, Rivals gives him 3 stars, and he's a member of the Baltimore Elite AAU squad.
DK keeps on working the D.C./Balt hoops scene... |

Wow, we are really going hard after this kid, I like that.
| Quote: | | UMass has their full staff here to see 2013 guard Kameron Williams. He has 24 of Mt. St. Joseph's 48 points. |
-Evan Daniels
| Quote: | | I believe UMass went full staff for Kam Williams. Plus Kellogg's son. That is hoops version of the +1 @Hoophall |
-Dave Telep
And people definitely noticed we wanted him haha |

| This was mentioned on ESPN 3 last night while the kid was participating in the slam dunk contest at the Hoop Hall tourney. |

Owns Baltimore? Right, because Carmelo Anthony, Rudy Gay, Acquille Carr, Kevin Durant, Juan Dixon, Mugsy Bogues all decided UMass was the best fit for them...
Yes, we've had some success with B-More guys over the years (Ricky, TV, Donta Bright most famously) but our pipeline there is not nearly so extensive as to have pull with any B-More recruit. Also, for what it's worth, Javorn and Maxie are from the DC area, not Baltimore. Yes, they're close geographically, but you don't hear Springfield-area hoop heads calling Hartford products their own. I do believe Traynham was from B-More also... _________________ Muck Fax Page |

Traynham was at Lee Academy in Me with Maxie and Travon Wilcher before them. |

williams a star on the rise rated the #25 sg in nation for the class of 2013.he has plenty of offers but it seems as tho he has no intrest in umass because he did not even mention us as a team that has offered him even tho we have.i really like this kids game but that doesnt matter if he doesnt like our school. _________________ “Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.” |

| ^ I think it's going to be difficult for UMass to get any top SG in the class of 2013. If they were to come to UMass, in their first year they would be playing behind Morgan (senior) and presumably Gordon (who they would be competing with for playing time for three years). I think we'll have a lot better luck getting a top SG out of the class of 2014. |

| The other problem is that recruiting Virginia is going to be that much harder now that VCU is in the a10. |

| I am not sure how much VCU figures into the mindset of NOVA folk. It really feels like a different state - much more so than Eastern vs Western MA. As a biggish public school, VCU might get the A10 some exposure in the tidewater area. For whatever reason, despite the proximity, Richmond doesn't seem to be on the radar there. |

No harder than it has been since they made their Tournament run, and we have still done just fine. |

Disagree - a VCU in the A-10 is much more compelling to a recruit than a VCU in the CAA. |
