It's the first national signing day of UMass' 1A life. I'm trying not to get excited. Thought it's not really working. That said, I know the coaching staff is working at a massive disadvantage as the school moves to the FBS. Thus, expectations must be lowered.

Still, it all starts with laying the pipeline tomorrow.

Considering the handful of verbals from the past few days, how many additional kids are we expecting to sign tomorrow?

PS--I understand there is a 2012 Recruiting thread. However, I hope there is going to be a lot to talk about tomorrow -- which will warrant a dedicated thread.

I know this is frowned upon by the old guard of UMass football followers, but this is the first time I have cared this much about a recruiting class. I was brought up in Florida where all of my friends attended big football schools (South Carolina, Florida, FSU, etc.), and every year this day is like a holiday. I was always jealous. Now I am more into this than ever.

Yes, signing day is not the big deal here that it is in the south, but why would it be "frowned upon?" The other season ticketholders I know have always been interested in our signings. More so now, for obvious reasons. It's just that in this part of the country, people don't drop everything to watch national signing day. That won't change even with the move up.

I mean that I really haven't cared until the team moved up, and I figured that thought process would be frowned upon.

As a MAC guy, I just wanted to say good luck and enjoy tomorrow. UMass is going to lag behind for a short while, but this is where you'll start laying that foundation for future success.

This is really cool. It's really hit home the last 24 hours for me, with Matt V. breaking the big time opponents news, and now signing day. It's like it hasn't been real to me until now.
