Really? Then how did I read the article at 7:30am when I got into work? He definitely wrote it beforehand, and updated it after the details came out. He probably just missed taking that one sentence out on the players we was unsure would be able to transfer before the sactions were announced.
Whatever, it's not a big deal, I just don't think it's fair to call the article "wrong" when it was initially written before the sanctions were announced. |

Not knocking him by any means as his article is exactly what I was thinking when I made my post yesterday afternoon. My thoughts were on 2013 recruits, I wasn't even thinking current players or 2012 recruits. This morning's announcement put all players from Seniors to incoming freshman to (of course) 2013 verbal commits up for grabs. |
FWIW - I wrote something Sunday night when I was assuming that some players would be set free, but wasn't sure how many years the Bowl ban was for and whether everybody would be let go. I updated most of it and I missed updating the bottom of it clarifying the list.
Good catch. |

Dewey - I liked this line tonight from the Maroon Musket on your Maine game story:

OC please refrain from such compliments on the board of such a valued source for it's members. The last thing we need is a McMurphy situation here. With so many good things going on with UMass athletics, I do not want to rely on someone who just got out of journalism school for a scoop. Might as well wait for the press release from UM......
I know the right thing to do would be rooting for someone you enjoy reading to move on to bigger and better things, be happy for them and all that. But what can I say I'm a jerk, and with the worldwide leader only a few miles down the road and the impending re-emergence of UM our hometown guy could start getting a lot of looks and I just don't want to take that chance.....
I think that guy at the Gazzette needs a lot of work on his writing skills, tweeting, skills, and definitely needs to learn how to cultivate sources within the organization he reports on regularly....

Now when the heck are we going to hear about a 3-4 star recruit leaving PSU for UMASS!?! _________________ UConn girls are........................... Huskies!! |

That might be the weirdest compliment I've ever received, but thanks. I just bought a house, so I'm clearly not itching to move. |

Is UMass still considered FBS transitional? So a transfer could play right away? _________________ Ball so hard |

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty certain that the window has closed.
Transitional teams need to be able to prove to the NCAA that they had no idea they would be moving to FBS when they began conversations with a potential transfer. Clearly that wouldn't be the case here or with any other player for UMass. _________________ Maroon Musket.com |
