James dismisses a suggestion he's considered a long shot and believes he was called by God to run for office.

"That doesn't mean God says, `You're going to win, Craig,"' he said. "But I would far rather have done this than let God down and not do what he had called me to do."

Yeah, ok, if you say so Craig. Why can't Republicans leave God out of politics?

The evangelical population in the south love having their guy with the same beliefs in office. Interesting to see during the presidential election with Romney's reception down there.

Bush said pretty much the same thing when he ran for prez. This is very typical of how a lot of people think in this state. Embarassed

Why do they have to keep God out? Maybe it's what drives his morals. It doesn't mean he's some Christian extremist

if it's true, hes crazy because god doesn't talk to hack politicians. if it's false (and it is) hes pandering for votes by appealing to bible thumpers.

and drives his morals? he needs a book to tell him right from wrong?

if a politician needs the bible to tell him what to decide, just vote in the book itself and don't even bother with the man.

You know there are people out there that look to the bible for guidance. I'm not one of them, but as long as they don't get too wacky I don't have a problem with them. It's when they become a preacher, I walk away. Love the avatar Btw.

Curious how all these politicians who say God called them to run reconcile it when they lose? I guess I heard wrong? Did God set me up to be humbled? I respect people's beliefs but I admit to being a bit frightened by politicians who believe God gave them a personal calling.
