Hard to believe that a thread for this game hasn't been started yet.
UMass needs this one.
Lax in the afternoon, UMass hoops at night...doesn't get much better than that!
UMass is heading down the home stretch of the A-10 season and needs to finish strong.
Here's hoping for a big turnout... _________________ "Win without boasting, lose without crying." -- Julius Erving |

We were getting crushed by them in the first half at their place and only made a game of it by throwing the zone at them, which they had a hard time solving. Now that La Salle has seen it and has seen us use it against other teams as well, can they beat it? Will DK have another counter move ready to go? I think this game is a big test for DK. With a week to prepare, I hope he comes out with a great game plan and the guys can execute it.
We really need to protect our home court the rest of the way. Another big crowd would help enormously.
I expect this to be a very close game but I'm not prepared to predict a W. We seem to have a progessively smaller margin for error as the season has progressed. We cannot seem to abosrb off nights from some players as easily as we could earlier in the year. |

After La Salle beat us on January 8, they were 12-4 overall and 2-0 in the A-14, also having beaten Xavier, in Philly. Since then, La Salle has gone 5-5 overall, and 4-5 in the league, including losing their last 3.
They have only won 1 league road game, at Duquesne, 71-68. |

Does Lasalle play a Wednesday game this week or are they off as well? I like that we have time to get rested for this game and think that plus it being a home game will put us over the hump. I'd say we get 6600 at the Bill and if we win, you see a huge student turnout push the numbers over 8000 for the Xavier game the following Tuesday. _________________ Muck Fax Page |

| In fairness, that's the way it should be. |

I got a ticket to this game that I can't use. It's free to whomever PMs first. I am in Amherst, on UMass campus, and you can pick it up from Wednesday until early afternoon on Friday.
EDIT: the ticket has been claimed. _________________ "When in doubt, use brute force." -- Ken Thompson |

| I don't like to bring up unpleasant memories, but I looked at the box score, etc. from the first game. We were down 51-25 at the half and they shot lights out from 3 and everywhere else. Their only "big", Wright had 12 boards and 4 blocks. They start 4 guards (6-0, 6-2, 6-3, 6-5) and Wright, who is 6-8. I don't recall how the game was called, but Chaz, TV and Maxie fouled out and Sean and Put had 4 fouls each. We have to do a better job of perimiter defense as they have 4 guys who shoot between 42%-47% from 3. Earlier in the year these small, quick teams killed us when we tried to press the whole game. Now that we are playing more of a half court trap that should help us. We were also outrebounded by this midget team 41-31. That can't happen again. I'm not making any predictions, but usually the team that is forced to make adjustments from game one to game two does a better job. Do we go small to match them and start JF instead of TV? I honestly don't know what I would do if I were the coach. |

If I remember correctly, the refs had quick whistles in the first half which slowed down our pace considerably and clearly took the guys out of their game. Not saying that the refs were bad, just that they called it pretty tight. |

| I cannot remember the last time we got a fair shake from the refs at their court. Game should be a lot different at home. I will stop and pick up tickets for my wife and myself after the luncheon. |
