| Time for the team to put up or shut up. They cannot afford to keep up the inconsistency. They need to prove that they can put together back to back solid efforts. They have shown the ability to play with anyone. Time to make a statement!! |

0-2. Horrible goal let in by Boyle. 15 minutes left in the second.
1-2. Sheary on the power play. 9 minutes left in the second.
1-2 after 2
Incredible performance by UNH goalie. 24 shots for UMass in the second period, many of them quality opportunities. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

2-2. Hanley, off some beautiful passing. 15 left in the 3rd.
And almost immediately UNH takes the lead again 3-2 as the result of horrendous defensive play. The defense has been pretty weak tonight.
Actually, make that 4-2 now on another defensive breakdown.
Absolutely no excuse for the complete breakdown. 2 UNH goals in 25 seconds. Someone put me out of my misery. This team really does not deserve to make the playoffs.
3-4. Hobbs. 7:30 left in the third. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

And -- that is your final. 4-3 UNH. Umass completely outplays and outshoots UNH -- 51 shots on net -- and loses because the UNH goalie was superb and because the Minutemen had an inexcusable breakdown in the middle of the third period allowing 2 UNH goals in 17 seconds.
It didn't help that Toot seemed to have the wrong players on the ice at the end of the game, with a 6-4 situation for the Minutemen. For some reason, he did not have the top line out there and then threw them on the ice with 14 seconds left.
This one was just one of those games, but when you have had so many crap games all season, you cannot afford to lose one of those games. Hopefully 3 more games and then a new era for UMass hockey will begin. Something has to change to get this team to change. The head coach needs to go.
We're number 9 and out of the playoffs right now, as Northeastern beats Maine, 4-2. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

Well, at the very least we have a final weekend that matters. _________________ I wish Hockey East was an all-sports conference. |

| ^ This is a very strange team to figure out. While 8th place is no major accomplishment, they are a team no one wants to meet in the playoffs. They outplayed UNH in both games this weekend and they can beat anyone in HE when they get decent goaltending. Of course, all playoff games will be on the road, which has been an issue. First we need to take care of business next weekend. |

I find it more fun than if it was the ECAC and every team made the playoffs. I hope Hockey East keeps these rules (only the top 8 make the conference tournament) when the league expands to 11. _________________ I wish Hockey East was an all-sports conference. |

Agreed. Point is, this team should be fighting for something much higher than just sneaking into the playoffs. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |
