| UMass Athletics just tweeted that we are up to #2 in the nation, which is best-ever for the program. #Nice |

Why do I foresee an undefeated season, rewarded with first round matchup with Cuse or Hopkins? |

Well, glad to be wrong about no movement. Wow. I fear that SOS could get us one of those horrible matchups as mentioned above.
But, let's expect success.
Lots of trap games ahead, now everyone is gunning for us. _________________ Feeling entitled is JUST a feeling... |

| Actually, I meant UVA, not Cuse. Looks like Cuse is somewhat down this year. |

I liked your Laxpower post, Kosty.
The fact is, we are the best team NO ONE has seen. Nor will see, until the playoffs, perhaps deep into them.
The good news is that like BBALL, the 'tourney will tell'. In my view, there are so few teams in the MLAX D1 tourney, only really good teams are in there. Totally unlike BB, or baseball, or soccer, for that matter.
Was it 6 years ago UMASS lost to UVA in the finals? Something like that.
A proud moment for UM, and being dissed is always a motivator.
However, in the short term, we need to stay focused and play hard. Everyone will be psyched to surprise us.
the 'NU should be held accountable for such biased coverage.

Yes, 2006. We beat 'Cuse twice that year, I believe. I know it was 06 because that was when I got my new car, not even a week old, and drove it down to Philly for the tournament. _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

We beat 'Cuse twice in '05, when Kevin Leveille was a senior. Lost in the quarterfinals against Hopkins.
The following year we beat Cornell, Hofstra and Maryland in the NCAAs. _________________ I wrote this ... it's gotta be true. |

| I've hardly ever read any comments on lacrosse articles like Quint's before, but WOW does UMass get zero respect from any of the fans of the other teams. Makes it that much sweeter when you beat them in the tourney though. |

My roommate is a D3 coach/writer who has a vote in the media poll. UMass's SoS is atrocious, and while he and his colleagues appear intent on keeping UMass in the top 3 as long as they keep winning, one loss might be enough to drop them out of the top 10 altogether. (Not that it really matters come tourney time, of course.)
Sucks, but then again, they really should win out the rest of the regular season. CAA's weak this year besides us. _________________ Fight Mass: Give Me a Cruel New England Winter |

Actually, SoS has improved. After the game against Harvard, it is now 24th out of 61 D1 teams. Last week it was in the 30's. I would think that it will stay in the 20's the rest of the year, although the St. Joe's game will definitely cause it to be lower, as St. Joe's is ranked 54th out of 61 teams in the Laxpower computer rankings. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |
