#3/4 ND plays Syracuse at 5pm

Yes we are #1. Will probably get a shotty seed in NCAA's all I care about is winning the NCAA's and I think we have a realistic shot, just need a good draw.

I'm going to bet that we don't get the #1 slot this week. Just a feeling I have. ND wins, they get #1.

ND won 8-6.

I'm happy either way. If ND becomes the fourth team to hop over us into the number 1 slot it will be a great motivator for the team and if we get the top ranking that would be pretty cool too. Regardless, this has been a fantastic season!

Sam the Minuteman is reporting on FB that UMASS is the #1 team in the country in both polls!

Here are the polls:

We all know the polls don't mean much when it comes to tourney seeding, etc and that the team needs to remain focused and keep doing what they are doing, one game at a time and not worry about this stuff.

That said, feels pretty good to see UMass on top of both lax polls. Very Happy

Congratulations to Coach Cannella and the 2012 UMASS Men's Lacrosse team for an outstanding regular season. Being rated #1 in both polls and finishing the regular season undefeated is quite an honor. Given the high standards Coach requires of his players, these accomplishments are praiseworthy. This team really represent UMASS well.

Now the hard part begins. Winning the CAA tournament is step 1 and cannot be overlooked. Last year the Gorillas did not bring the intensity needed to win the tournament and were left out of the NCAAs. While this is unlikely this year, a loss may doom them to a low seed and a tough road to Foxboro. So now is no time for the Gorillas to let up. UMASS fans, students and alumni need to turn out in a big way at Garber!

Again congratulations to all and good luck in the post season.

Go Gorillas, Go UMASS!

I love how pissed off everyone on the laxpower forum is that we're number 1 in the country, as if how could this possibly happen?

Quint is especially dickish this week in his IL "analysis". Shorter version: how could an undefeated team from MASSACHUSETTS that plays 'nobody' in D1 and have a 'cupcake' schedule POSSIBLY be the number one team in the country?

Tough shit, Q. We're number one until someone beats us. That's why they play the games.

Finally, a very good and fair analysis on Laxpower:

Note that I sort of called out a Hopkins fan about his definition of "mid-majors." To those people, everybody is a "mid-major" except the chosen few.

I believe the original RPI post is done by one of our very own. Dickie Dunn, maybe?

Oh, is it? No wonder it's fair. But it was also endorsed by their bracketology expert.
