I had a bad feeling about tonight, especially when Northeastern was up on BU 1-0, the first UMass goal was called back and two painfully, blatently obvious Too Many Men on the Ice calls against Merrimack went unnoticed by the Hockey East Officials, but UMass perservered and clinched a playoff spot.
As I see it, UMass could end up either 7th or 8th, and could end up playing @BC, @BU or @Lowell. I don't know which opponent I want, but I want UMass to finish 7th, so I'll be rooting for the Minutemen to beat the Warriors again, and for the RiverHawks to help us out and beat the Friars. Come to think of it, I don't care which opponent it is. I'm just happy I'll be at a couple of hockey games next weekend.
Glad Moore got to play. Merrimack had a shot at the end of the game which he saved, but apparently it was after the buzzer, as the box score shows he had 0 saves. Official score keeper sucks! _________________ I wish Hockey East was an all-sports conference. |

| After spending most of the season watching on AllAccess or listening on 100.9, I finally was able to make it over to the Mullins for the game with my wife and four children (all under ten). Luckily, we had free tickets as we spent about $40.00 on concessions! Anyway, great game, great atmosphere, and a chance to cheer for the seniors in person made for a fun night out with the family (that and the fact that my wife made all the concession runs). |

Good job by the team bearing down tonight and getting a solid win over a good Merrimack team. Looks like either BU or BC (or maybe even Lowell) for the playoffs. Can't wait until we are able to get a home playoff game again. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

Home ice would be nice, but consider this:
If we win tonight, with a UNH and PC loss (both likely) we end up tied for sixth. Depending on what we do to Merrimack in the pairwise the five teams ahead of us in Hockey East are all in the top 15 in Pairwise nationally.
Its frustrating to see the points left on the ice against some of the lower teams, but the reality is its hard to argue that Hockey East is the toughest conference this year. |

Meff, was thinking the same exact thing this morning. Other than Vermont, every single team in this league can be extremely dangerous. So, while home ice would be nice, making the playoffs in such a competitive season is acceptable. That said, I still think this team could have a significantly better record this year than it has. Look at all of the top 15 teams they have beaten. Just not sure why they cannot beat the lesser teams consistently. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |

Vote for BC/BU/UML as the number 1 team in the nation next week.
Also, I really hate Merrimack for renovating their rink. I'll never forget the first time I walked into the rink, tried to find my seats (bench spot really) and the Minutemen lead by Paul Dainton walked past me in full gear because they had to get to cut through the crowd to get from the visitor's locker room to the ice. It had character. Now it's just a small dump with plastic seats and a low ceiling that gets hit by the puck too much.
Hopefully I'll see some of you tonight. _________________ I wish Hockey East was an all-sports conference. |

To no one's surprise, a complete collapse in the last 10 minutes tonight leads to a 5-3 loss at Merrimack. Once again, a bad stretch of about 7 minutes kills them. Don't know how many times that has happened this year, but I do know it has been a lot. Now to the Heights next week to play one of the hottest teams in the country. But, that's what you get when you barely squeeze into the playoffs. _________________ If only I could be as great a fan as Pierce9999.... |
