| Any recommend any good courses to join in the Boston area? I'm looking around at some courses but there are so many of them. Anyone have any good/bad experiences? |

I know a fair amount about that. What area do you live in and what level of player are you? _________________ "Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here." |

The first thought I have is Red Tail. It is straight out Route 2. DrG here is not a member but plays there a lot.

I have not played the two South Shore clubs mentioned above. I'll be back with more thoughts. _________________ "Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here." |

Thanks Cage.
Basically I'm just looking for a place to play golf a couple times a week. I do not have any children yet, so pools and tennis courts are not needed. |

Stow Acres is a decent track. They are BIG on hosting tournaments though so it might be tough to get tee times some times. Although they do have 36 holes there. More stuff south of the city, Widow's Walk in Scituate, Waverly Oaks in Plymouth, Riverbend in Bridgewater, Olde Scotland Links in Bridgewater. I've played all and they are fun tracks. Pembroke CC in Pembroke is partially owned by Jeremy Roenicke. I played there years ago when it was a shit-heap......Roenicke has put a ton of cash in to it though and it's supposedly in gorgeous shape. They have partial memberships I think.
And I almost forgot about Granite Links in Quincy. GORGEOUS views of Boston and pretty nice tracks there. They have 27 holes. They have memberships as well and the restaurant is supposed to be very good.
Oh the high end down here, of there is Boston Golf Club which I believe has an initiation of north of $300k, and Black Rock CC which is somewhere around $200-$250 initiation. But of course we all have that kind of cash to throw around!! |

K - Why mess around? $380,00 to start at Nantucket Golf Club. Not a bad commute twice a week from Harvard Square. _________________ "Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here." |

| One of the problems you will face is getting morning tee times on weekends. Many public courses sell "Inner Club" privledges that allow you to make tee times a head of the general public. The problem is these clubs allow foursomes to book the same time for the following week in essence locking them in for the season. Friday = weekend rate at most courses now. |

Presidents has a pretty funky layout, cramming 18 holes on not a lot of land, so you get a lot of criss-crossing and doubling back with holes (not to mention what I thought was one of the more ridiculous, unfair dogleg par-5s around -- right, meff?).
If you play Widow's Walk, bring a lot of spare balls. Tight.
As far as public courses, Braintree Municipal is one of the better ones you will find. _________________ I wrote this ... it's gotta be true. |
