Well surprise, surprise. VCU will not be joining the A-10 in 2013.

They will be joining in 2012, THIS FALL.

Then the A-10 is going to have a mess of a schedule with 15 teams in 2012-13.

We'll find out for sure this afternoon, press conference will be 1:30 today. Watch it live:

Maybe things in the CAA are worse than we think. Or maybe we lies to GMU and had another team in mind that wanted to move immediately.

Don't we have an open date that we were looking to fill with a strong RPI team to help our SOS? Gee, look who just fell into our lap. Maybe other A10 schools have an open date and this can be worked out. Will VCU have to drop all of its CAA games?

Bruiser Flint must love VCU joining the A-10. The CAA tournament won't have the VCU home bias anymore.

Or any fans in the building if you believe GMU fans. They are saying CAA fades and becomes a 15 seed, one-bid league. Can't say I disagree with them either.

I'll tell you one person who loves it. ME! I absolutely love visiting Richmond and this gives me another chance each (or every other) year to do so!

Maybe when the A10 moved its headquarters to Virginia, it was on to something after all...

Not much downside to this news. It is hard to guess what the conference is going to do, but 5 - 3 team pods makes the most sense. Play each in your pod twice and everyone else once and that = 16 games.

If they went by regional Pods that would be URI and Idunno - Bonnies or Fordham I guess - maybe they would break up the Philly area a little and give us St Joe's or let the Temple rivaly finish with a home and home???

Possible pods for 12-13 season? Not the best geographically, but maintains most rivalries.
