WKU transfer Derrick Gordon told me he likes Seton Hall, Penn St, Marquette, WVU and UMass. No time table on a decision. -- Jon Shartzer (@Coast2CoastJon)

Big time player at SG. From NJ. Ranked as 4* last year and the 105 best player in the class. AVeraged 12 ppg as a freshman, 6.7 rebounds (for a 6'3 guard!) and 2 assists. Would have 3 years left of eligibility. Dropped 25 on St. Joes. Rebounds amazingly for a guard -- including games of 13, 15, 12, 11, 10.

Kid is a proven baller. I have to believe seton hall is front runner since he is from NJ but then again we whopped them this year... This is type of player I want last scholarship going to, if we don't get a transfer let's take a project like Freeman

From his profile on ESPN.com, he sounds like a smaller version of Javorn.

I am a little concerned about his shooting %, overall, 3 and FT. They are pretty mediocre. Maybe a change of scenery will help.

Based on statements here: http://wkuherald.com/sports/article_7740963c-7f59-11e1-b680-001a4bcf6878.html and http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-basketball/story/2012-04-05/western-kentuckys-derrick-gordon-transferring I assume a school closer to his home will lead. Not sure we'll be close enough, but perhaps.

At 26.6% from 3pt range as an SG I can't see him being a fan favorite.

Plainfield, NJ is about 4hrs from Amherst per Mapquest.

Go Umass!

Dont see how Marquette and WVU are close to home. Seton Hall must be the favorite, but this would be a big get. Him in the back court with Chaz, and Laguerre would be dangerous.

LED team in scoring as a freshman. No complaints there. Sitting out a year he can certainly get those #'s up.

He would come in as a Soph. with a Sr. backcourt of Chaz and Jesse...Could start his Jr. year after seeing lots of minutes his soph. year, split off the bench with Jordan.

I see what you are saying, but those are Sun Belt numbers, and a good freshman season doesn't always lead to better soph numbers. I think UMass can do better.

Dude had 25 points and 15 rebounds in one game. If you're doing that from the guard position against any college competition, you're a player.

People on this board were saying the same thing about Chaz and his #'s when he transfered here from Hofstra.

Point is, kid has proven he can play at D-1 level.

This would be great. He was a high school teammate of Kidd-Gilchrist from Kentucky, there is a worth the watch HBO documentary that followed their senior year, which might still be found on HBO on demand. It would be hard for anyone who watches it to write that they wouldn't want him at Umass. It is clear that he belonged somewhere better than the Sun Belt.

Just as I said with Chaz when he was a possibility - I'll take a good rebounding guard every time.
