^ I agree...chaz had very good numbers as a freshman at Hofstra...not saying the Sun Belt is the same as the CAA but neither is the A-10 and id say chaz is a pretty decent player...
why do i feel like we can never be satisfied with some things? |

| How could anyone not like this transfer or even slightly not like it.. seriously? He can come in and become a top 3 scorer right away. He was the next best player on that St. Pats team who won the state championship in Jersey (best high school basketball state) after Michael Kidd-Gilchrist... this kid is a great player, good attitude as well. |

Found this on DG and thought I'd share. MaxPreps had him ranked higher than the other recruiting services at #65. There's a couple cool links you can click on and view video and related articles. |
One of the linked articles was to game coverage of St Patrick's losing to St Anthony's and thereby losing its #1 status (at least temporarily) last March 11, 2011. St Anthony's shut down MKG, limiting him to 7 points, but Derrick led the game with 26. For better or worse, more than half his team's points. I didn't see a link to the box score to judge how efficient Derrick was in getting those points.
Also, I see that at #65 Derrick was the first player on the list not to choose a Big 6 college. _________________ Always remember that you are unique, just like everyone else. |

ESPNU is now showing a 2010 game between Oak Hill and St. Pat's. Derrick Gordon is a junior, playing with Michael Kidd Gilchrest. Also in the game are Kyree Irving, Roscoe Smith, Doron Lamb, Jawan Staten and more.
Edit: Derrick is #32 in white |

| I wouldnt let DG know that game is on, tough finish for him in that one. Probably a moment that made him a better player and person though. |

| ^Agreed. As that game ended I started praying that it was the worst game of his high school career. To be perfectly honest about it, he was just awful. He airballed a couple of shots, including a free throw and ended up 1/6 from the line. I have faith that he is much better than he showed, otherwise he wouldn't have had the offers that came his way. |

I didn't want to start a KAEO thread because I knew people would jump all over me for it, but Ty Johnson is transferring from Villanova. He is a 6'3 athletic pg that was a top 100 recruit coming out of the 2011 class. The reason for me bringing it up in Gordon's thread is because they are both from Plainfield, NJ. I have no idea if they have any connection and I understand our scholarship situation is already quite foggy, but I figured it was worth a mention.

I got Derrick as a Facebook friend. He has a highlight video when at St Pats.Worth watching. This guy is for real.Projects as a starter first year and as a star. He is lightning fast, can score and handle the ball. Cant wait to see him next year. Look at the video and tell me if you dont agree. How did we get him? WOW! He proved it at WKU too. |

| ^ I'm glad to see that he has taken Santee under his wing. I was getting a little nervous about Santee. Non-qualifiers are put in a tough position. They are used to being part of a team, and all of a sudden they are on their own. |

^ Very glad to hear even more confirmation that Gordon is a good character guy and what sounds like a great leader. If we can get someone like that every couple of years it will help tremendously.
I definitely think the NCAA should look at allowing non-qualifiers to practice with the team their first year. The NCAA should be focused on how they can best help and protect kids, not punish them. |

Could not agree with this more!!..they take a kid who has questionable academics, allow him to attend a school to improve the academics, then isolate him from the very source that will motivate him to get the schoolwork done. I agree with not granting a scholarship, no team would ever tie one up with someone who cannot play. But they really need to revisit the issue of practicing with the team. For the most part I believe these kids would have a far better chance at academic success if they are allowed to feel part of something, the very something that brought them to the school in the first place. _________________ "I don't know if you consider UConn and Temple BCS...we certainly don't"...Coach Charley Molnar |
